Reds at Rays Game 3

thavoiceGreat series win!
Bruce...the Golden Sombrero.
Congrats. -
SportsAndLadyWow, didn't think they'd beat Shields...hell of a bounceback from that abortion in Baltimore.
-
daveGreat series, Tribe without Pronk is a pretty terrible lineup. They need another series win bad.
-
se-alumThis series just shows how inconsistent this team is. The look pretty bad the past 2 series, then come in a play a great series against 3 very good pitchers, finally getting the timely hits. We see how good this team can be, but can they put it all together for a long stretch??
-
Ironman92I leave for a little bit and we turn to hat bills. lol
I more than offset my winnings from a bet going bad yesterday by losing 7777 vbucks on this one. Whatever it takes. -
thavoiceWay to take one for the team.
-
swamisezZero consistency from this group so far this year. Hopefully they can find a way to beat Cleveland. Will need to execute better at home than they did at the Jake. 2 of 3 is feasible and they will need to win the series as Milwaukee and St.Louis play teams they should beat (Milwaukee hosts Twins, 4-7 Liriano vs. Gallardo, and St.L vs Tampa who is now at back end of rotation)
-
SportsAndLadyHoping they sweep the Indians, for payback from earlier this year when they swept us.
-
Little DannyA lack of consistency is signs of a mediocre ball club. Fortunately for the Reds, mediocre could win the division again this season. First team to 90 wins takes the crown IMO.

crab42According to run differential the Reds are the same team as last season... The biggest difference is they are losing the one run games instead of winning them. If the Reds stay healthy (especially the pitching) then I would say we'll start seeing a turn around. The Reds have the best run differential (+41) in the Central by a pretty fair margin and they are 3rd in the NL behind Philly (+69) and Atlanta (+44)... All of this with below average offensive production from 3rd base, SS and LF and a pitching staff that hasn't been totally healthy or consistent. I feel the Reds have upgrades at SS and LF (maybe 3rd offensively) in the minors that could help a little but all in all they are only 2.5 back and haven't had many things go right. I feel they are the best team in the division and they are finishing a very tough month and a half run of road games... Things haven't been great, but I think the Reds are in position to make some noise in the 2nd half!

LF and SS definitely need upgraded. I still have no idea as to why Cozart is still in AAA. Send Janish down for a while and see what you got. It might help Janish regain confidence at the plate and it might show what we have with Cozart.
Bring up Sappelt or Alonso and send Heisey down so he can get regular ABs. You could give Alonso some starts in LF and have him spell Votto at 1B too. -
Ironman92No way do you send Heisey down.
-
thavoiceYeah...no way ya can send Heisey down. He is sthe best PH on the team, maybe in the league. Plus he can fill any OF spot and hit any spot in the lineup.
Unsure if we wanna place the season in the hands of two unproven rookies with Sappelt and Alonso. Renteria is garbage so far, if they wanna do something DFA him and bring up Cozart to spell Janish. Spot starts and see how it goes and have no pressure on him.
How do you justify sending Janish down? Then ya have an over-the-hill Renteria and a rookie in Cozart at SS. That is a recipe for disaster. Janish has never been, and never will be, a hitter so sending him down to regain his confidence at the plate isnt going to do much
I think b/n Gomes, Heisey, Lewis that the LF position is a better option than putting Alonso in LF AT THIS POINT. If ALonso does come up I see him as the backup. Some spot starts and if the LF continues to sputter and he does well then gradualling bring him along.
What numbers does LF have right now? Think all of Gomes HR are from when he was in LF, some of Heisey's. I think the LF spot may have 15 HR and 40+ rbi's to their name.
True...Gomes went through a hellish streak and it seems inconsistant out there.. -

It's typical online message board talk. Any time a team isn't up by 10 games, they want to take everything down and start up with new blood. To want to put our season's hopes on two unproven rookies is laughable, I literally laugh every time I hear it. Bring these guys up when the rosters expand in another couple months, and see what they can do in limited roles. If you bring them up in a starting role, and they play like rookies (not good), bye bye season. -

Yeah. Right now there are four teams who are barely north of .500 with none of them showing the consistency to pull away. Had to be deflating for the Brewers to look like they were putting things together, only to get easily swept by the Yanks. Just like it was emotionally deflating for me to be cheering for the Yanks for any reason.
