Yes, Jim Kelch. He does both.

Big 2nd out with a runner at 3rd on a very good professional play by Cairo, but couldn't get the 3rd out without the run scoring!

Time for a phantom DL trip for Dodo. This killed all the momentum.

Arrendondo has no command at all. Gets behind in the count and can't throw strikes. Gets ahead in the count and serves up pitches down the heart of the plate. He left that splitter to Markakis up too high on 1-2. As a result, Orioles add an insurance run.

    This game sucks lol

this is exactly the type of game that happens when you settle for what you have instead of bringup up some fresh blood

if chapman gets through these 3 then ill be impressed

But Janish is a good player, he's just putting too much pressure on himself right now. His glove is more important than his bat anyways.

I'm just rephrasing the BS the Reds upper management likes to spout off every time they're asked about bringing Cozart up

14 LOB for the Reds thus far. Pathetic and unacceptable.
  • dave
Rolen should have pinch hit for Stubbs or Janish when there were runners on base, not in the 9th with nobody on.

No kidding, and they don't even mention Edgar when he is the bigger problem. At least Janish has some value in the NL as a defensive replacement and double switching. I've already got my tix to the Indians series but if they don't make any moves I'm done spending my money there. There is no team in baseball that wouldn't have called up at least 1 guy when half your AAA lineup is absolutely raking. Hell, I'd even settle for a Hermida/Lewis swap to start.

I know AAA success doesn't necessarily mean success at the next level, but I agree. Sappelt, Cozart, Alonso, and Hermida are all raking. You can't tell me at least one of them can't help our offense. I know Hermida already got one shot but I believe it was very brief and not really telling. Lewis is out of options so they won't send him down.

We know what Hermida is. Why waste ABs on him. If you want to call somebody up, call up somebody with potential (Sappelt / Alonso)

Its mind numbing to me why Alonso isnt on the squad

Nothing to do w/ the game or the big club, but Billy Hamilton has 54 stolen bases @ Dayton. Can't wait till this kid gets to the bigs!!

Alonso needs to be called up, if for no other reason, as a pinch hitting threat from the left side.

Aside from Phillips and Votto, there aren't many real threats on the team. Stubbs, Heisey, and Bruce are all wildly incosistent.

I'm still going to argue that the plate approaches that are derived from Dusty and maybe Jacoby are more of the offensive inconsistencies and struggles than the players involved. Fortunately Votto, Phillips and The catchers can hit with 2 strikes or way down in the count. The majority of the Reds can't handle it and can only drill a shitty pitch.

One more point and I promise I don't care if they call up some deserving guys....but isn't the best of the best pitchers in the minors not as good as the bottom tier guys in the big leagues? The average minor league guy vs the average big league guy? The guys in the minors getting 20 at bats a week are getting at least half of those at bats against guys that will never make it.....on the flip side, all you can do is hit who is on the mound. Bring up Cozart and see what happens, Janish knows how to sit and root on teammates and Renteria has done it all year. And as bad as Renteria has been....I still want him around a little longer.

Hermida has 18 ABs this year, how can you judge off of that? He's 100% healthy for the first time in awhile and he isn't just playing well, he's destroying the IL. Nobody in the league has close to similar numbers. I'd prefer Sappelt too, but Walt and Dusty probably would go with Hermida first. Alonso can not play LF right now, he's not coming up.

I know about the 18 ABs, but I also know he originally came up in 2005. If you haven't caught on by now, odds are you aren't ever catching on.

Alonso has been playing LF most of the year. He isn't a gold glover or anything, but he can't be much worse than Gomes out there.

Not saying that Hermida will ever be Jose Bautista, but Bautista was pretty bad until last year.

Not out of the question. Especially if Bautista hooks Hermida up with his HGH guy.

Yes, Alonso is much worse. Worse than Dunn was. I've seen it in person several times. Gomes has become a solid defender this year, well above league average actually.

Back to Hermida, it's not like he's never caught on. Take a look at his numbers while with Florida. They weren't crazy good but much better than what they are getting now and that was in a pitchers park and on shitty teams.

Either way, something needs to be done.

Gomes catches what he gets to, but I'm mainly talking about the balls an average OF gets to that he doesn't
