Tribe visits Mo-Town, June 14, 15, 16

  • BRF
Well, let's see if we can answer to that last nasty inning.
  • Laley23
Jesus. Verlander versus this offense...it just isnt fair.
  • BR1986FB
Good lord...quit playing like a bunch of "Lebron's"
  • BR1986FB
I better not wake up tomorrow to find out these clowns got no-hit.
  • Mulva
It's a good thing Carrrrrrrlos took one for the team or we could be looking at a perfecto.
  • gorocks99
Verlander gives up a walk but no hits ... now through 7 w/o a hit.
  • BRF
    Time to bunt......oh wait...it's only the 8th.
  • wes_mantooth
It is almost comical how bad this offense is.
  • royal_k
OC breaks up the no hitter in the 8th.
  • BRF
Well, at least we aren't going to be no-hitted. Hammy said that the last pitcher to hurl two no-hitters in a single season for the Tigers was Virgil Trucks in 1952...AND he ended the season at 5-19! How about that?

We still have 3 outs left.

I agree our offense is bad right now, but Verlander could have done this to any team in baseball tonight. His stuff is that good. You have to sit on the fast ball and then he throws a nasty hook or a change up that you can't hit.
  • BRF
    So let's slam him now!
  • BRF
Nice job by Verlander. We try again tomorrow.

The best RH pitcher in baseball.

He had the stuff to do this every time he takes the mound.

    Roy Halladay just chuckled.

2 total runs scored the past 4 games. 9 out of 13 games with 2 runs scored or fewer in the month.

Gotta turn around eventually though, right?

Halladay and Verlander are close, but if I had my choice It's Verlander.
  • BRF
It's June 14 and we are still 5 games above .500. Much better than being 12.5 out this time last year.....AND much better conversations on here! :-)

Felix, easily for me in the AL. Probably Halladay overall. Josh Johnson is probably 3rd with Verlander for me.
  • TBone14
Josh Johnson gets no love. Whenever his contract is up in Florida, the Yankees or Red Sox are going to make him very, very rich.

As for tonight. Verlander was great. Doesn't help that we can't hit.
  • HitsRus
We have been making mediocre pitchers and has beens (read Colon) look like Cy Young winners lately....so Verlanders performance tonite really means nothing except to Tiger fans who want to pump up some of his stats. Nunnaly will earn his money now. Can you get them out of this Jon?...your reputation as a hitting coach is on the line.
  • vball10set
I don't care how well Verlander's been throwing, our offense is so abyssmal right now that any top tier pitcher has a chance to throw a no-no against us on any given night...and how in the HELL does Hanahan stay up here? he actually looked afraid to be in the batters box last night-- two consecutive plate appearances = two strikeouts on SIX PITCHES!!!!

btw, can anybody tell me who our "leader" is this season? just sayin'
  • karen lotz
Verlander no hit one of the best offensive teams in MLB already, and followed that performance by taking a no hitter into the 6th inning his next time out. LOL at saying his performance means nothing except to Tigers fans wanting to pump up his stats.
  • vball10set
^^^ I agree--JV's one of the best in the game today...I wasn't trying to discount his performance, I was just commenting on the Tribe's offensive ineptitude.

You do realize everyone is calling him one of the best in all of baseball. It is just easier for him to throw a no no against a little league offense like the tribe.

In a way I'm glad he didn't finish the no hitter last night, a couple buddies and I talked about going up to Detroit last night for the game but ended up not. Would have been a kick in the pants to miss it.
