What's wrong with Rolen? Missing two games in a row. Shoulder?

    He has strep throat.

D Willis strikes out the side in the first..gives up a single though

Baker says the #Reds haven't considered promoting Triple-A players to get out of funk.
Not surprising, that's why I said Volquez, Chapman, Willis, and Francisco will be what they consider help. The one downside to Walt is he is a veteran player's guy, he's never had a loaded system like this.

wrote:“We haven’t had our starting rotation the whole year,” he said. “That’s where it starts. No Cueto, no Homer, then no Homer again. No Volquez. No Chapman,” he said. “Everybody else might be surprised. That’s why you try to get as much over .500 as you can. We’re four less wins than we had last year. Considering we haven’t had Scotty. Last year this time, Scotty was vying for the All-Star Team. Jonny Gomes was almost our No. 1 run producer outside of Joey (Votto).”
This annoys me. We don't have that all-star Scotty, we don't have that No. 1 run producer Gomes. So you need to go down to our very talented AAA team and try and replace that production from last year, because the guys are not producing like they were last year, and we can't just continue to waste these star players we have (votto, bruce. etc.).

    Dontrelle is done, gave up 2 hits with 2 outs and was pulled...his line: 4.2ip, 0r, 3h, 3bb, 7k, 83 pitches (48 strikes).

Still responsible for runners on base.
  • dave
pretty solid, need to be above 60% strike rate but after a couple weeks off that's expected.
  • wildcats20
So Leake was moved up to pitch tonight and Edinson will be back tomorrow night.
  • SportsAndLady
    Cubs have 1st and 3rd, 1 out
  • mhs95_06
If Leake was a truly great athlete with a superb feel for the game of baseball, he would have caught that attempt at a 3-6-1 DP about 3' closer to 2nd base.

    1-0 Cubs...sigh
  • wildcats20
Just get out of here without giving up another run.
  • wildcats20
    That's better.
  • SportsAndLady
    1,2,3 bottom of the 1st.

    SWEET!
  • SportsAndLady
    Gomes actually does something!

    1-1

didn't see it live (had to turn it to american pie for the 'premature twice' scene with Nadia), but just saw the replay of the end of the Cubs top half of the 3rd...nice play

STUPID, STUPID baserunning, but a heads up play by Hanigan and BP.

    Stubbsy!!
  • SportsAndLady
    Stubbs goes oppo...love that
  • SportsAndLady
Hopefully Stubbs can take away from that at bat, that he doesn't need to get perfect wood on the ball to hit it out...he's got such good pop in his bat that he just needs to focus on making contact with the ball; if it's in the air, it's gonna go far...if it's on the ground, he can run it out.

And a base hit by Votto.

He must use a very heavy bat such that when it hits it it goes a ways, but causes him to swing and miss a lot.
  • SportsAndLady
Nice job by Leake to get out of that...anyone have his pitch count? Be nice to see him go 7+ innings, with how much we've used our BP.

An example of the Cubs very bad play they have been exhibiting lately (11-20 since May 1st, and 0-6 in the last week).
