Would you want your team to sign Plaxico Burress?

  • SportsAndLady
Simple question. He's about to be a free agent.
  • stroups
If the price is right I wouldn't mind.
  • Commander of Awesome
    fuck no.
  • BR1986FB
I'd have no problem as a big, red zone target at the veteran minimum.

I wouldn't mind either if the price is right, aka cheap. It's a low risk move.

    Absolutely

    Am a steelers fan.

Been there, done that. He wasnt all that in pittsburgh...he is like 6-5 but played like 5-5 in pittsburgh as he didnt go for balls.

Would I want himi back? As others said...if the price is right I wouldnt say no.

Keep hearing talk of him potentially being "this years potential Mike Vick." Likely his last chance (he's not young) and should have a chip on his shoulder/something to prove. Hopefully spending time in a cell, making Capone his "catcher", straightened him out.

He was a near PRO BOWL player in several seasons...he has mistakes to atone for and people to prove wrong...I'd take him without a second thought.

He's 30 fucking 3. How many productive 33 yr old WRs fresh out jail with an attitude problem do you know?

Eh...guys like TO and Derrick Mason have shown that you can still be a productive receiver well into your 30s. Keep in mind that much of Plaxico's skill is based on his size and ability to catch jump balls in the end zone. That's not something that takes a whole hell of a long time to get back. It might take him a year to re-adjust but he's still got a few more years of being productive IMO.

At veteran minimum money, it's worth at least the roll of the dice. Fresh out of prison I'm betting he's better than MoMass & Robiskie. Only issue is that I heard he wasn't exactly a "model citizen" when he was in prison.

I would take him for a season at veteran minimum.

Really? Odd report considering he was released early...

The thing about Burress is that he'll likely get targeted by teams that are "close" like New England, NYJ's, etc....teams that only need a piece or two. Teams that are rebuilding ala Cleveland probably aren't looking for that (although I do think that Cleveland will be aggressive in FA to try to catch up with Balt/Pitt).

He will end up in Baltimore. Ha as will Nnamdi Asomugha! (wishful thinking now)
  • Ironman92
Productive 33 year old receivers......they happen

attitude problem? yeah, no one has ever been productive with one of those

fresh out of jail....well that is time that he wasn't getting knocked around on the football field......same with Vick here.....but he's had plenty of time to heal.

Go ahead and make your dumbass prison rape jokes for your rebuttal.

Baltimore would be a likely target for Burress. Not so much for Asomugha.

I think you're right on the money. Mostly with the fresh legs/body comment. I'd bring him in for a look if I was a GM. Couldn't hurt.

I would love for him to end up a Brown. He has a lot to prove to the NFL and it's fans.

Receivers can get smarter on the football field as they get older. Maybe run routes better, read the defense better, use their body better. it is possible he could do well at his age.

    yup

I'm surprised the Bengals haven't signed him.

Good one! I dont need a rebuttal. You're arguement is opinion. I disagree. You are trying to argue with an exception. Yes Mike Vick worked out, he was also much younger than Plaxico. Plenty of time to heal, heal what a gun shot? I'm not following how 3 yrs out of football in prison has helped someone get in/stay in football shape. I'd rather take a "chance" with a Lance Moore instead of the latest hot BSPN storyline. I'm glad youre not the Browns GM.

Also factor in his legs are gonna be a lot more fresh than a typical 33 year old NFL player. Not saying he hasnt aged, but his body has been out of NFL contact for 3 years now.
