UEFA Champions League Final: Barca vs. Man. U.
-
killdeerShould be a good game with an exciting atmosphere with an English side taking the field at Wembley...
I'd love to see an exciting game; would not be at all surprised to see a ball-control festival by Barcelona and Manchester United tucked in narrow and tight on the defensive end. Messi alone is worth the price of admission.
United will have to try to gain control in the midfield for any chance to win, and few have been able to do that against Barcelona.
By the way, any chance of some vBookie action on the match?
Barca 2-1. -
MulvaGotta root for Barca as the lesser of two evils, but fucking hate both of them. They're definitely the better side and should win.
-
cbus4lifeI'll be waking up early for this one! Can't wait.

DeyDurkie5can't wait, and it just so happens to fall on my 23rd birthday. So instead of 10 or so brews, I'm shooting for 28. Just want to see a good game seeing as I don't really like either teams.

I haven't been in the soccer fandom for long (only since Fifa '06 World Cup lol) and this is exactly how I feel. I guess I'd root for Barca because of Messi, and also as a Liverpool fan I do not want ManU to have something to gloat about. -
AutomatikI'm fired up. First game I've been able to watch live in a while. This Fox coverage is hilarious. Anyone catch Strahan's piece?
I'm pulling for Barcelona. Hoping for something like 2-1. I just want a good, entertaining game and no pussy diving. -
Midstate01Go Man U!!!!!

AutomatikHate United, love Rooney.
I wish I was there! -

I'm hoping for a 5-4 game ending in penalty kicks. Minimal diving, and a lot of back and forth action. I feel like in these big games, the overall game gets blindsided by pussy diving and hesitancy. I understand one game decides all of what you have worked for, but that shouldn't deter your style of play. -
jordo212000Watching it now. Dont have a favorite team in international soccer, so I just want to see a good game

I hope they're both aggressive. The last few finals have been rather meh. -
killdeerBerbatov begins on the sidelines in favor of Chicharito...he could be a factor coming off the bench in the 70th minute or so...

jordo212000Looked on wikipedia, and I am still confused.
So is what happens is that these teams play in their domestic leagues (la Liga and Premier League) and then the winners of the domestic leagues get seeded into the Champions League tourney? -

It depends on the league, smaller one get less spots. The top 4 finishers in league play qualify for next years Champions League. -

No, it's a world cup style tourney. You play in different groups with 4 teams, winners of those groups go to the seeding style bracket that is similar to NCAA tourney. From there it's 2 game aggregate games all the way to the finals. -

top finishers in each European domestic league qualify to enter the Champions League based on their finish the previous season...these teams enter a tournament initially in group stage, then progressing to knock-out play until the finalists emerge...the top four teams in the EPL this year (Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Man City) qualify for next year's Champions League for example........ -
