lol...probably a bad comparison. My point is that you need to at some point take a chance and mortgage a little of the future for a championship NOW...especially when you are a small market team

When they got Lofton from Texas in 2007 I don't think they gave up much, Blake isn't much younger.

Although it was nice to see Lofton back, I don't think it was worth it. I think they would have ended up losing in the ALCS with or without Lofton. They traded away a player to have a old vet play for less than half a season. If they are going to make a trade I want it to be a guy that can contribute in the following years as well.

Not a small market team imo, unless it's a legit all star (i.e. CC). Trading away your prospects for a role player to play half a season is just dumb imo. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think the Giants made any moves last year. Not 100% sure though as I hardly pay attention to the NL.

    no idea about the Giants.

I just know that I was pissed in 08 when they stood pat in the offseason after being so close the year before.

What a clusterfuck to end that game. Dust off that glittering Wahoo !

Pretty sure Giants traded for Pat Burrell and Cody Ross. Not sure if there were more.

    Much needed W this weekend.

Still maintaining that 6+ game lead in the division.

I saw a lot of little league plays today....including 2 on the same play...the last play.

Appropriate with the way that the Tribe ran the bases today that the game would end with TB having two guys on 3rd.

The Giants did make some moves last year to get guys that contributed for them, including Burrell, Ross and a couple of relievers that contributed during their run. I have no problem trading a lower level prospect for a veteran that can come in and help now. I would rather trade a low level guy and get someone like Lofton or Blake then trade our top guys to get a superstar (CC). The guy we traded for Lofton was in A at the time and played 45 major league games between 2008-2010. He's currently out of baseball. Plus he was a catcher and would have been behind Santana and Marson. I would rather have had Kenny Lofton for those few months then a few years of Max Ramirez in the minors.

If the Indians keep their pace, what about the rumors of Jose Reyes to Cleveland?

We would need to get a contract settled but its worth a try.

    A win is a win.

Longest two losing streaks on the season were both 3 games.

During 162 game season, you'll have ugly games like this.

Just google Reyes to Cleveland. Some guys think he is a good fit for Cleveland if they keep their pace and he is willing to sign a deal.

My friend mentioned Reyes' name today when we were watching the game.

The Indians can't afford Reyes, and why would they even want him?

    1) They can afford him but the owner has proven to be unwilling when it comes to open up the check book. IF, and I mean if because its unlikely, IF Cleveland could sign Reyes to a deal, they have the minor leaguers to cover the talent part imo.

    2) Reyes is an upgrade and we could move Druby back to 2nd base, using OC as a solid bat off the bench.

Blah it's a bleacher report blog post..
  • hoops23
Jose Reyes is very good, but I think Druby and OCab are just fine...

If anything, I'd rather add another arm to the starting rotation. Or an upgrade at 3B if Chisenhall isn't ready.
