Reds @ Tribe - Series Thread

We will trade Jonny Gomes to the Indians for 5 bats. Any takers??
  • Cleveland Buck
The rule is the runner must not be more than 3 feet away from the baseline, and it was pretty clear that Carrera could have been close, but was not clearly over 3 feet away.

Just got home guys from a night out with the GF. Nice to see another comeback win by the WINDIANS! What a Major League debut by Carrera. This is the kind of win that brings chemistry. We may be fighting an uphill battle with Pronk and Grady out. But tonight proves what this team is made of. Starting pitcher goes down, but it doesn't matter. They found a way. That's what good teams do. Great win!

    Go TRIBE!!

Seriously...is Jonny Gomes the bastard child of Dusty Baker??

Lime green , orange, yellow or what? You need to see which one he has on when they score the most!

BRF knows what you are talking about. Sometime I will tell you a good story about "him".

ANYHOW.....still relishing tonight's win. I will also try to get you, riders1, on board! ;-)

What a win! Still a bittersweet day with the news of Pronk, but that was a nice win. Hopefully White is ok, we cant really afford many more DL stints (especially from pitchers!)

    Agreed.

The good thing is, Choo and Santana are starting to heat up, so that could help counter losing Pronk... Grady should be back in less than a week.

Ezekiel Carrera was traded to us by the Mariners for Russell Branyan, I do believe.

How many times do we rape the M's in trades?

This is 3 by my count, although they got the better of the 3 teamer that yielded us Valbuena and Joe Smith.

Another great win tonight. This is a team that truly never says die. After those first 5 innings we looked lost at the plate and were coming apart in the field like he hadn't done all year. Most teams would fold at that point, but this group never doubted that they wouldn't get back in it and we keep saying there is a new hero every night, well tonight it's Ezekiel Carrera. Welcome to the big leagues young man. :)

    Oh yah.....GO TRIBE!

What's the ruling for that type play?

    From the rules of baseball:
    A runner is out when:
He runs more than three feet away from his baseline to avoid being tagged
unless his action is to avoid interference with a fielder fielding a batted ball. A
runner’s baseline is established when the tag attempt occurs and is a straight
    line from the runner to the base he is attempting to reach safely;

In my experience, this is only called on really egregious violations of the rule.

TY Dusty Baker for allowing your pitcher a complete meltdown before coming out to get him out of the game.

31, 622 @ Friday nights game. A sell-out is already on tap for today.

Amazing to think about: As we are all hoping the Tribe's attendance picks up. Cleveland once had 455 straight sell outs at (then) Jacobs Field.
  • royal_k
That was a very hard ticket to come by. (during the streak) Unless you were willing to pay. I think I saw 4 games during that time. Really remarkable, and probably won't see it again.

OMG...Tribe !!! Went to bed when the Redlegs were up 4-0 and I thought the good guys were dead in the water. WTG Tribe !!!

To everyone who keeps asking me, yes my "RAGE" Shirt did arrive a week ago. It is pretty cool looking, and fits well, but the feel is lacking. Feels a little stiff, and not broken in at all (in part because of the design being to big). Im hoping a few washes will wear it in more. I havent worn it a second time because I keep washing it.

Good to see that everybody is waking up. Nobody expects them to sell out 400 games in a row anymore. 8000 people at a big league game is embarrassing

There is a reason why 455 is retired. The Indians will not reach that number again. In part because the Browns are back (somewhat) and the Cavs were (great owner will change that back to ARE in a few years) competing. Throw in the economy and the advent of STO and many peoples hate and disgust for Dolan, they find no reason to go to the game. MLB attendance as a whole is down so it's not just a "Cleveland" thing.

Interesting thing though, the Indians have actually seen an increase compared to as many games last year.

Why is that interesting? They are winning games. People will go to games when their team is winning.

They were 15-25 on May 21 last season.

Just saw the play from last night, the bunt that is; and in no way was he out of the baseline. Definitely didn't miss that one. Just a piss poor performance down the stretch from the Red Legs, as well as good execution from the Tribe.

There is a big difference between attendance being "down" and 8000 people showing up to a baseball game. There is absolutely no way you can rationalize it

Interesting team stats going into todays game:

    Cleveland...BA-.265 OBP-.335 SLG-.422
    Cincinnati...BA-.265 OBP-.339 SLG-.420

The big difference is ERA: Cleveland 3.45 Cincinnati 4.20
