He's not actually living. That's his zombie that does the Lowe's or whatever commercials. Or at least he has the acting range of a zombie while shilling products.

    Clemens:
    354 Wins
    3.12 ERA (12 years with a sub 3 ERA and 2 years with a sub 2)
    4672 Ks
    7 Cy Young (1 runner up, 2 #3) and 1 MVP (1 #3)
    11 All Star Games

I hate to agree with this Laley, but .... I agree. I HATE Clemens, but until someone proves he cheated (and I think we are close), he has to get the nod.

Still can't believe he didn't get ejected from Game 2 of the 2000 World Series for chucking that bat, what BS

Ahhh, Aaron Heilman, whose gopher ball cost us a spot in the '06 World Series ... his baseball card remains on my dart board, alongside Armando Benitez and Oliver Perez.

Ah, one of your versions of Stan Belinda for me and the Pirates.

You know, I admit that the Zambrano trade for Kazmir was absolutely RETARDED, but, with the way Kazmir fizzled out I am less pissed about this train wreck than I was about 5 years ago.

Read Torre's book, The Yankee Years, there is a good section in it about that incident.

Justin Smoak. The stud of the Mariners.

Stan the Man for sure. Since I have been in the STL area for 13 yrs. now, I can understand what he means to this region.

Gotta include my favorite of all time, though, Tom Seaver.

    Another vote for Mays.

I listen to Hawk Harrelson do the Sox telecasts from time to time. Might as well nominate him. Don't forget Duane Kiper doing the same with the Giants. Gotta love those ex-Indians.

    1. Mays
    2. Musial
    3. Aaron...

    discuss...

    Yep.

Mays is the best IMO....but the longer time ago they played can boost them up some. Those super old HOF players like Yogi Berra and Stan Musial...any baseball fan and player of the past 55 years are going to get some chills when they see them being honored and such.

If not for his circumstances...Pete Rose would be way up there.
  • Early Cuyler
    Wily Mo Peña of course

No doubt about that. Pete really shot himself in the foot. Imagine, if he hadn't been such a dick he would regularly be mentioned in discussions such as these and would be a regular on baseball's biggest stages.

What a waste of truly incredible talent.

Just a curious question, how many people on here that are picking guys like Mays and Aaron actually watched these guys play? Just interested to know if you think the competition and the athletes back then are comparable to todays athletes.

SE, ^^^that right there would probably be a real good thread...
