Why do you like baseball?

  Serious question...if you like baseball, what makes you into it? I played baseball a few years when I was in grade school..it was alright when I was batting or getting the ball hit to me, but the majority of the game you are just standing there or sitting on your ass.
  
  As much as I dont really enjoy playing baseball, I think watching it is way worse. Majority of the time you are watching a pitcher stare at the catcher. Then you will watch the pitcher and catch throw the ball back and forth to each other.. every once in a while the batter will hit the ball in play, which is usually fielded then thrown to first base. Every once in a while a home run is hit..which is the only entertaining part of watching baseball.
  
  Then you have the the managers who are about 60 years old who wear actual baseball uniforms. Reminds me of kids graduating from high school who cant let it go that they will no longer be able to play a certain sport. And how can I forget, a pitch sometimes slips away from the pitcher and hits the batter...then the baseball players decide to act like hard asses and they clear the dugout and do a bunch of shit talking and nothing much ever amounts of it.

  My answer would be I played it from age 5 until my second year of college.

  The strategy, the game of inches, the history, the building excitement as the game goes on when it's tight, all the players (you can actually see their faces), so many different ways to get things done, the difficulty, the hand-eye coordination and insane reaction time....and typically tremendous eyesight to even fathom playing past high school, the respect of most, the handling of it's own isues on the field, the umpsdon't favor the home team like in football and basketball, the affordability, the importance of stats, the representation of many countries even with stars, the lack of tatoos per square inch, the not having a a constant whining to the people umpiring the game, batting practice before the game, the majority of palyers aren't too cool, no current lockout, the potential trivia.

  fair enough. I respect the tradition of the game, and am not saying its easy to hit a 95mph pitch or something.. I just think its boring as hell to watch and not much better to play.

  I can't stand watching soccer and think it's dumb as hell to play on a field bigger than a football field and play for 90 minutes and seldom score over 3 goals....but rumor has it it's quite popular and worldly.

  In all seriousness, imo if your team is in it, the MLB playoffs is way more exciting than the NBA playoffs, and almost exciting as the NFL playoffs.

  Most people start to specialize in sports when they get to HS, LeBron did it himself.

  I can't say I really like baseball, I just like watching the Reds. I can watch any NCAA football game or NFL game, but baseball if it isn't the Reds I won't even watch. I can certainly respect people who just love the game though.

  Grade school isn't high school and I don't recall Pick saying he was a phenom at another sport.
