LaPorta and Brantley continue to impress me. LaPorta battled some injuries last season but he has seemed to have gotten on track this season. Most people questioned his ability to play 1st base and he has impressed me at that position.Just can't say enough about Brantley.

Now, if we can get the Lee trade going that would be great. Jason Donald may not find any room to break into the infield with the thought of Lonnie coming up later in the season. Carrasco has had his chances but needs to take control of them.

Mike Hargrove spent all of spring training coaching LaPorta how to play defense as a first baseman.....you can see all the work has paid off.

Nice to see Manny getting some guys PT.

Duncan on to hit for Pronk.

Brantley and LaPorta are going to be great. LaPorta just needs to keep his swing nice and short. Sometimes he likes to swing "big" per se, but with his natural power he doesn't need to do that. He has gotten better with this and has started to really take off offensively.

Brantley is going to be a consistent .300 hitter. He just knows how to play the game.

As I said, I'd do the CC trade 10/10 times. CC was good, but I was never that high on him as to where I thought we had to keep him. The '07 playoffs soured me on him.

Nothing like running it up. Geez.

Two run double by Duncan. 19-1 Tribe
  • OQB
Duncan with a pinch hit double....add him to the hit club! haha

That hit reminded me of the game earlier this year in KC where Duncan had the winning hit in extra innings....he must love that left field corner!

    What do you want lol.

Tell the bench guys not to hit the ball, Duncan comes in and smokes a double.

    I'm joking.

    I know you were!

Buck gets called up and makes the most of things. Let's see if he can continue the hot hitting.

Is it just me or does Buck look really jacked?
  • OQB
He was safe....but hey I'll let it slide when we are up 19-1 :D

Tribe came into this game with the league's best in plus run differential. They might keep that spot for awhile.

I agree on the trade, but only because we werent going to sign CC. But unless LaPorta or Brantley become perrennial MVP candidates...the trade wasnt fair based on what we lost. But again, we wernt signing him, so good deal.

    LOL
#Elias weighs in: Vin Mazzaro is the first pitcher in modern baseball history (since 1900) to allow 14+ runs in less than three innings

I was just thinking about that, we are definitely padding that lead.

we got 2 good young every day starters for one good pitcher......I'd say it was a good deal.

    Damn that is terrible.

If you go back to the mid 90's we didn't have a #1 guy....we had a pitching staff of #2 and #3 guys and won a lot of ball games......I think this team has the same make-up.
  • devil1197
    Shit, Germano is warming up.

We may need about 5 more runs.

LaPorta goes 4-4 on the night.
  • OQB
LaPorta really needed this....he had been going through a slump there for a while.

I disagree that they have to be perennial MVP candidates for the trade to be a good one. If they both play at a high level (Brantley already is) and play consistent, than the trade will be a good one. And LaPorta is showing signs of what he may become. (a middle of the order RBI machine) They were not going to be able to sign CC.
  • devil1197
Tomlin pitches 6 strong innings and will come away with a W.

Marson comes in to catch and LaPorta exists the night going 4-4 with 4 RBI's as Santana moves to 1st base.

I fell asleep and just woke up. Holy Shit!
