2012 NHL Winter Classic

End of LineIt will feature........
http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=562719&navid=mod-rr-headlinesMultiple media reports in Philadelphia, New York and Canada are reporting the Philadelphia Flyers will host the New York Rangers in the 2012 NHL Winter Classic.
According to the reports, the game will be played Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at Citizens Bank Park, the home of the Philadelphia Phillies.
If the reports are accurate, it would be the first time the game has been played on a day other than Jan. 1. However, New Year's Day next year falls on a Sunday. If the NFL plays this season -- that league currently has locked out its players -- it would coincide with the final week of the regular season. -
gorocks99Flyers get to be in it again, eh?

End of LineYep....
I would have liked a game in Minnesota or Colorado instead. -
rock_knutneI'd like to see them play this thing a huge college stadium like Michigan did last year. I still can't believe the NHL didn't have the Pens and Flyers play last year at Beaver Stadium.

like_thatIs HBO going to do another short series leading up to the Winter Classic, because that was awesome?

Bettman and HBO want to. -
I Am AhabUgh, same teams over n over. I know this is inconsistent w my first statement but I'd like to see Det vs Montreal in the Big House or maybe like SJ vs Det or Van vs Det. Seems like same eastern conf teams very year.
I think the combo of the Wings/ Big House could attract some attention. -

NBC will never have a canadian team playing in the WC due to the fact it won't pull ratings here in the States. -
SykotykAnd, the NHL is trying to restart the Heritage Classic in Canada strictly for two Canadian teams to play eachother, which would be the 'marquee' north of the border.

TedShecklerCanadiens and Flames played last year and no one here really cared.
