You're right. But at least the other PGs are a threat to score. Rondo is left alone outside of 15 feet. I'm sorry, but in the NBA that's pathetic. Don't get me wrong, I love Rondo's passing, rebounding, defense he's the best overall PG in the league at just those 3 IMO, but his inability to score drops him below CP, DW, DR, and RW. -
Hb31187Rondo when he wants can get to the hoop and finish. He knows his role as a point guard though and spreads the ball around. Watch one of his games when hes healthy and count the number of times he gets deep enough in the paint to easily lay it up but instead kicks it to Allen for a 3 or Pierce and KG for mid range jumpers

robj55Rajon Rondo is not better than DWill, not a chance

The BossCP3=best PG in the NBA.
People will soon remember that once they see him play again in more than just a handful of games with a shitty team. -
The BossAlso, Kobe being named is a joke. But the guy will never be relevant again so at least we can smile about that.

Yeah? Then how come 3 PGs were named to the All NBA teams and their names were Rose, Westbrook, and Paul?

It appears I'm not the only one who thinks it's ridiculous for you to say it's "unquestionable" Rondo is in the top 3 -

The BossI bought into the Rondo thing for awhile too, but I definitely admit I was wrong about him. Before I bought into it, I thought, "I wonder how good he would be if he wasn't surrounded by 3 future first ballot HOFers", and now I think the same thing. He's a really good player but I can't put him above some of those other PG's anymore. I still think CP3 is the best all around PG in the league by a long shot. Rose is real good but he really is just an AI clone almost. Not as good on D, a little better on O. And that's no knock, Iverson was a GREAT player. But not a GREAT point guard.
-
Hb31187Thought you were comparing Roses' offense to Iverson for a second.
Rose wishes he had the offense game of Iverson -
The BossI don't think he's that far behind, but he's definitely not quite as good--not as well rounded anyways. Pretty good jumper but not like AI, gets to the rim better but doesn't finish any better or worse than AI did IMO. He just looks flashier, I think mainly because he's not quite as smooth as AI. Better on D when he wants to be though. Better pure athlete too. His ceiling is above where AI was and from all accounts he has an incredible work ethic and is 10 times the team player. So we'll see, it's weird to say after he wins the MVP but he really has nowhere to go but up. I hate the Bulls, but I love to watch Rose play.
-
lhslep134AI could score whenever he wanted. Rose isn't there yet and never will be unless he develops a consistent jumper like Iverson had.
Something to note is the quality difference at PG between Iverson's time and Rose's. I picked a random year in Iverson's prime (2002) and the other All Star PGs were Nash, Kidd, and Steve flipping Francis. Kidd and Nash are great but the depth is terrible. This year? Rose, Rondo, Paul, Williams, Westbrook. That doesn't even include John Wall, Nash or Kidd who still play at a high level, Conley who was 6th in the NBA in assists per game among PG, and Tony Parker. It makes it tougher when you have to actually try on both sides of the ball as opposed to Iverson's time when there were less great point guards to have to guard. -
Hb311872 hall of famers and 1 player in Steve Francis who was just as good as a Westbrook or what not now a days.
Gary Payton, Mark Jackson, John Stockton, Andre Miller ect were all still very productive as well and thats just of the top of my head. Im sure other Chatters could name some very good late 90's pgs -
Laley23Tim Hardaway.

I still remember playing with Mourning and Hardaway on NBA Jam. Mourning for the jams, and Hardaway was deadly from the corner. -
DeyDurkie5I would argue a point guard doesn't need to be the scorer, and in fact should be the 4th or 5th scorer on the team. His job is to dictate the offense and run the show, not take over the shooting game or point scoring. Westbrook puts to much emphasis on himself and less on running the show.
-
The BossI think that's different based on the team and player. Rose dictates the offense and runs the show, he gets others involved but understands that he IS the show. I agree about Westbrook, he needs to give it to Durant more--but lets be real, in the series with the Grizz, Durant is well covered. He does take a lot of pressure off and he's no worse a scorer than Rose really. People slam Westbrook for taking so many shots, but don't get on Rose nearly as bad. And it's only because Durant is supposed to be "the guy". This is what we saw with LeBron in Cleveland. Some defenses are good enough to hold "the guy" in check--at least to a certain extent. Unlike Cleveland, the Thunder have a guy who can take some pressure off when Durant is getting a lot of attention.

You quoted me yourself. It says all-around. Why did everyone but you and dynasty understand that the first time?lhslep134;766609 wrote:Yeah? Then how come 3 PGs were named to the All NBA teams and their names were Rose, Westbrook, and Paul?
