    This.

What could he possibly have to say? What a fucking jackass

Glad to see most steeler fans/organization aren't trying to back this moron up.

this guy was enrolled in a big 10 school...how do you get through any college with a brain that cannot fucking function? I mean, he had to do some work, right?

You're probably just messing around but.....I don't think he's dumb from a knowledge standpoint. He just has a warped opinion and ZERO common sense. I totally disagree with his opinion AND I think he's a fucking dumbass for putting it on Twitter for the world to see.

Sure, he's entitled to his opinion.....I just wouldn't advertise it if I were him.

I also agree Mendenhalls nickname from now on should be "The terrible towel head"

That's big-time college stuff for you.

One prime example of the ineptitude which currently prevails at many schools is Ron Harmon, a former running back for the University of Iowa. During his days as a "student athlete," Harmon’s course load included courses such as bowling, billiards and watercolor painting. While there is nothing wrong with taking courses such as these for diversion in order to broaden your horizons, it is utterly ridiculous to build a course study around them as Harmon did while pursuing a degree in physical education—which he did not manage to finish. Another example is Dexter Manley, a former defensive end for the Washington Redskins, who left Oklahoma State University after four years illiterate, unable even to read about his accolades in the sports page on Monday morning. I do respect Manley for admitting his problem and going back to school to learn to read; however, his case is a pitiful reflection of the "education" athletes receive at far too many institutions. Unfortunately the only thing separating Harmon and Manley from many scholar athletes is talent; they possessed enough to go on—most do not.

After reading that thread, I'd say we have some on the OC who share feelings similar to Mendenhall's but they were able to word it a HELLUVA better. Thing is, they're not famous and broadcasting it on Twitter.

Honestly, I *think* Rashard meant what otrap and some others on there meant but he didn't express it clearly like they did. Still, HE is an idiot for posting his opinion on such a topic at the risk of it being misconstrued and consequently unpopular.

Pro athlete + 140 space limit + important current event = !FUCKING DISASTER!

I could not agree more, heretic. They should just STFU.

i definitely don't agree with mendenhall's "let's hear bin laden's side of the story" argument. guy openly gloated about the killing of thousands of innocent americans...i have no use for his side of the story. i do kind of side with cdr, however, on the celebrating in the streets. i understand it (especially with what bin laden masterminded on 9/11) but the process of eliminating terrorism is still in its infancy...still a long way to go before the real celebrating can begin

That being said, I'll still be rooting for #34 on Sundays. I'd be willing to bet that other players in the league, maybe even one on your team, feels that way too. Fuck their opinions.....I'm rooting for their production on the field.

I think teams are taking more risks on players with character issues now and it's being excused and this is just a shitty opinion, not a crime. I don't think NFL players will care enough to try to take out his knees. LOL

LMAO at ahab's post....I'd say every team in the NFL has druggies (weed smokers) and adulterers on it so not sure why those were mentioned as if they're unique to the Steelers. That's absurd.
The Steelers were mentioned bc although every team employs those types of individuals the Steelers (fanbase, at least) would like everyone to believe they are above that. But as more of their players turn out to be moronic thugs we see that isn't really the case. Pittsburgh Steelers=frauds.

Some of the fan base would have you believe that. Certainly not all. EVERY team in every sport employs some turds.

Lol I was just about to post that.

Another example of why athletes shouldn't Twitter. Pretty damn dumb.

Between him, Harrison and Rapistberger, I'm beginning to wonder if this group is as 'roided up as their counterparts were in the 1970s. It might explain some of the bizarre stuff and overly aggressive behavior.
  • september63
How many hours before a public apology, or the dreaded what I tweeted was mis-understood?
  • charliehustle14
What an idiot. Million dollar athlete, ten cent brain.

For one, how can anyone defend OBL? Dude was a mass murdering extremist. And I'm also glad to hear Mendenhall majored in civil engineering while at Illinois. A 747 traveling at top speed, filled with countless gallons of jet fuel, can't straight up demolish a sky scrapper? Ok Rashard. Oh wait, you majored in sports management?
  • Tiger2003
If he would have stopped after this part he would have been fine... "What kind of person celebrates death?"

But the rest of the shit is just fucking ignorant. It is basically a slap in the face.

As a Steelers fan I hope someone steps up this season and he loses his spot then gets cut. I don't wish injury upon him because he would still get a paycheck and people would say, How good could he have been if he didn't get hurt? I hope he just sucks and someone fills his roster spot. Then a terrorist plants an IED in his mailbox.
  • DeadliestWarrior34
Apparently, no one told him that some planes are really, really, BIG.

I swear I have seen a few of Mendhall's tweets as posts over on the Politics forum...

But you're the only one with a rapist so you ARE unique....

    Way to go :)
