I'm starting to think the Tribe's PR department hit a homer with their slogan for the season... "What If?"

    Bingo.....Brilliant PR dept

Again not the prettiest win but a win's a win in this league. Perez was not on today but toughed it out. Guys just keep coming up clutch for this team. It's been an incredible ride so far let's keep it going.

    Nice win...

we needed to take two out of three....matchups versus the Angels are iffy.

lol I had no idea that was the season slogan. That slogan is definitely paying off now. Pretty risky move as that slogan could have been a complete joke lol. It was either going to be a home run or a strikeout while pulling something.

*Question: Do you Tribe Stalwarts want me to start the next series thread? I would be happy to pass the baton and I would be happy to continue, also.

Still nice to get 2 from that pitching staff. They might not be doing much scoring, but you definitely have to grind it out to beat Oakland. I suspect most teams will have that issue with Oakland.

The good news is the Angels played Boston today, so they are on their way back to the west coast to play a baseball game tomorrow. These next 6 will be tough with the Angels and then the Rays coming to town.

Start it! Also, I can't help but notice that Perez has looked shaky his last few starts. Hopefully he gets back to blowing it by guys.

    Nice win....Angels will be tough.

This win put is in great position to go 3-3 on the west coast, after coming out 4-2 on the first one. That is amazing, because it seems we BLOW on the west coast usually.

Hopefully we can go 2-1 versus the Angels as well. We hit Weaver, but Masterful can keep us in that game if he has to imo.

Thanks BRF, I was at work and can't post much on my phone!

Glad we won the series and BRF sure has the hot hand!

Perez is suffering with a little back stiffness.
  • Cleveland Buck
Perez doesn't have closer stuff, and really isn't ideally a closer, but he is doing the job, and if I lived through Senor Suck and Bob Wickman and company then I can deal with Perez until he starts blowing saves.
  • grodt
I think Perez can be one of the top closers in the game. Something is up with him right now, either the back problem or something else but his command is off. When he is on he's lights out.

Thank goodness for Oakland having the most room ever in foul territory to get us out of the 11th I think it was. Hannahan made a catch on the mound of the bullpen and then LaPorta got one too I think.

This is partly the reason why Oakland has the best pitching staff in the majors.

    Well, his #'s speak otherwise.

In regards to Perez- obviously you have to have great stuff to be a closer, but I think the most important aspect to closing games is between the ears. He has the closer mindset. He wants the ball with the game on the line in the 9th and I love that. 9 for 10 this year. Don't recall what he was last year. He didn't have many chances, but when he did he was good.
