Stanley Cup Playoffs Game 7: Tampa Bay Lightning(5) at Pitsburgh Penguins(4)

Wednesday April 27, 8PM (CBC and Root Sports)

It all boils down to one game to advance to the Eastern Semi-Finals. Both teams have shown the ability to win back to back games and Tampa has swung the momentum in their favor. Pittsburgh has a terrible record in game sevens at home yet, they have a decisive edge in playoff experience.

The Pens haven't lost three games in a row in a very long time, don't see it happening tomorrow night.........they wrap it up with 4-1 victory!

4-1 huh? Thats a lot of garbage goals.

The forecast for the Consol Energy Center is a "white out", with a chance of "Fleury"!

I really hope you didnt think of that yourself and stole it from somewhere else.

I think it will be close....2-1 going either way. I'm not very confident. Lets hope Fleury plays lights out.

I thought wildcats told us on the last thread to knock the shit off and talk about the game instead of bickering with those we don't like. Start a thread in the basement for all that bullshit. That's what he said.

Anyways, I have a bad feeling about this game as TB has all the momentum now and the Pens couldn't cash in on a PP if their lives depended on it. I heard that Bylsma is going to tweak the lines and the PP for Game 7 so let's hope that works. Maybe sacrificing some offense for defense and try to win a low scoring affair. Hey, whatever it takes....

    LET'S GO PENS!

It is when the money games are here that the superstars need to shine.

Too bad the two brightest stars for the pens are injured.

TB wins this one on the road.

This is the one warning for this thread about keeping it civil, or else there won't be any Pens talk outside of the basement.

    Either team wins 3-2

How about just deleting the garbage posts and/or giving infractions? Its not difficult.

Jordan Staal looked very good at times during the last game. I hope it carries over....SOMEONE needs to step up.

I agree about Staal. Hopefully that was a sign of things to come in Game 7 and it actually materializes in the form of a goal or two being scored tomorrow night.

It's like the series has completely flipped. Maybe tomorrow night will be for Pittsburgh what Game 2 was for Tampa Bay in the first 4 games of the series.

St. Louis has the experience to carry his team one to round two

Speaking of Staal......the Tampons have given a ton of short handed goals in the league this year, Pens are second in scoring shorties. If Staal could score one in this game it would be huge!
  • rock_knutne
Bylsma was asked today if Tangradi would be inserted in to the lineup, his response......."maybe".

I say he should play, he definitely was a handful for the Tampons to deal with on the PP.

I like Tampa in this one. Pens can't get anything on the PP and their defense has been exposed.
And winning a game 7 on the road is not impossible, the Habs did it last year.
A tight one though, probably 3-2 or something, with the winning goal late in the 3rd.

    Please explain.

Their PK has been mediocre, I'll give you that but being outscored 8-1 in PP goals is the difference IMO. Let's not forget that the Tampon PP is one the best in the league.

Not really much to explain. 8 goals in Game 5 given up, and 3 (I won't count the empty netter) in Game 6. There have been serious holes in the defense both games, both in front of the goal and open lanes. Even going back to game 4, Tampa has scored in every period since the end of the 1st period in Game 4 onwards.
There was that whole Game 2 issue too, with 5 goals given up.

Honestly, game 1 was the only game where the Pens defense played stellar, all other times, they have been alright or just awful.

The PP for the Pens is just a joke. They honestly don't deserve to advance with that %. I mean that is worse than the Bluejackets.

It is not the regular season. Those stats do not matter. Only the stats from games 1-6 do.

Bummed out I have to work tomorrow evening. I could've gone to the game.

Even though they lost 8-2 in Game 5, the building was rocking at the start and the Pens controlled the action for the first 10 minutes or so. They need to do the same thing but get the first goal this time.

Yeah, let's throw out what teams did in the regular season, doesn't mean a thing. In fact let's just throw the top 8 teams in a hat and draw them to see who plays who.

    I'm hoping Tangradi plays tonight!
