The Sidney Crosby Saga...
-
sonofsamI am a Pens fan as well as a Crosby fan, but wtf?!?! I realize he sustained a pretty bad injury, but he has been out 3 months now... A lot of people call him weak and a cry baby and I am starting to see why. Its time to play hockey Sidney...
-
GoPensNot up to Sid. Up to the doctors.
-
rock_knutneCrosby hasn't practiced the last few days, Dr's orders. I'm about ready to count him out for the remainder of this year.
-
End of LineConcussions affect people different in each case.
-
wildcats20Yeah, I asked about this a month or so ago also(mainly because I didn't know how severe it was).
It's totally out of his hands, as it should be, in this case. I would venture to say most Pens fans would rather him sit out til next year than come back not 100% and get hurt again. -
Pick6i made a thread about this in the basement about a month ago. i mostly did it to troll penguin fans, but i mean come on..suck it up, tell the doctors you feel fine, and get back in the playoffs to help your team out. I just figure a top 2 player in the team would be a little tougher.
-
End of LineThere have been players who have been dealing with PCS all year that didn't even play a single game this year. Peter Mueller and Matt Lombardi both suffered concussions during the pre-season and were not able to play at all, all year.
Pierre Marc-Bouchard came back to playing full time half way through the year after sitting out a season and half due to PCS.
Sid suffered 2 mild concussions in short period of time. Which is terrible for the brain. -
Automatiklol....OP is an idiot.
You honestly think its Crosby who is holding himself out?
He was STILL showing symptoms a few weeks ago, although I don't exactly know symptoms of a severe concussion.....I'll take their word for it. Concussions are not to be taken lightly, especially a severe one sustained by your 23 year old FRANCHISE PLAYER. -
sonofsamI just don't buy it anymore... If it were up to doctors, football would be two-handed tap. They all take such great interest in sports-related injuries but taking care of someone who lost their job and does not have insurance, but has a kid that has cancer and needs treated is pushed away. In professional sports you sign a contract to play a sport, you are highly paid to play a game you supposedly love, and you also know that your quality of life in your later years may be a little shaky. You knowingly trade longevity for money. Maybe I shouldn't go to work for the next year because of some hits I took back in the day... My ears still ring, I still get headaches, dizzy often, and sometimes my memory is crap. I wonder if I can get a doctor to write me an excuse for work since the symptoms seem to produce more when I am there... How do I still get paid and keep my insurance and get away with it?
-
AutomatikYou don't make millions and you're not the face of the league. There is no comparison.
What don't you buy? That the injury is that severe? -

Dude. Read my post above.
He suffered TWO CONCUSSIONS within a couple of days.
PCS can last for a long time.
Why do I know this? Because I am currently dealing with it. The doctor told me symptoms can last up to a couple of weeks, a couple of months, and possibly a year. I'm currently off work b/c of it. I am not allowed to go back (it's a physical job) until my symptoms are gone.
Same deal with Sid. -

Suck it up and get out there.....derpppppp.
I don't think people that act like concussions are no big deal actually know what a concussion even is. -
IliketurtlesWasn't there a player in the MLB last year who missed a lot of time because of concussions? Its so funny to hear people hate on Crosby because of this. When the doctors say he can play he will be playing its as simple as that.

Also a Canuck. Fuckin' pussies -
thavoicethere are alot of injuries one can just suck it up and play through...and many that teams will allow you to suck it up and play through.
Head injuries are not one of them.
I am frustrated as anyone about this but if he is still having issues then what can ya do? Head injuries/concussions arent an injury you should just lumber through. -
sonofsamI know what a concussion is... I worked in the medical field for quite some time. All I am saying is Crosby is "paid" way to much to "nurse" and injury that can re-occur at ANY time. All this rest means nothing, a simple case of whiplash can bring out the symptoms again. The point is earn your money... There are no guarantees all this rest will eliminate the potential of another concussion. Suck it up and play some hockey.

End of LineHere's a list of players who have not returned this season from a concussion:
Jim Slater-1/2/11
Marc Savard-1/23/11
Raitis Ivanas-10/10/10
Peter Mueller-9/27/10
Max Pacioretty-3/9/11
Matthew Lombardi-10/14/10
Bryce Salvador-10/3/10
Derek Boogard-12/10/10
Ian Lapierre-Never played in the pre-season or regular season due to PCS
Kurt Sauer-9/15/10
Nick Johnson-2/18/11
Sidney Crosby-1/6/11
David Perron-11/5/10
Colton Orr-1/21/11 -

Every additional day he doesn't come back reduces the chances of the injury happening again. You have no fucking idea what you're talking about.sonofsam;745266 wrote:I know what a concussion is... No offense, but this is some of the dumbest logic I've ever come across.
Who said resting would guarantee anything? He was still suffering symptoms....so you want him to "suck it up" and risk even more serious and possible permanent damage. Again....hes 23 and the fucking franchise player and pretty much face of the NHL.
Are you sure you didn't have quite a few concussions in your time? Knock knock....hello? -
rock_knutneCrosby practiced yesterday and was held out of a couple practices during the week by the Dr's as a routine test to see how he would react after a few days rest. FWIW, this is the same step in the process that Tangradi had to take right before he was cleared for contact, maybe it could hold true for Sid too, let's hope so.

Raw Dawgin' itHe'll be back next year, don't see the penguins making it past the first round for him to return.
