Second to last pitch to McCutchen I believe, up and in. Crowd started going crazy and they showed a still shot of the radar reading of 106.

He hit 105 last year. Why is 106 so unbelievable?

I didn't change the channel when I switched over to MLB.tv on my PS3. I'll rewind it and see if I can get a screen grab.

didnt realize he hit 105. That is ridiculous. The most I had seen from him was 102.

Yeah, he hit 105 in the same game he had a few around 102-104. It's really stupid how fast that is.

My bad, it was the 0-2 pitch not 1-2.

Yes, MLB gameday shows 102 on that pitch. McCutchen's AB shows 101,92,102,102,101.

    Article from the game.

He struck out Adrian Gonzalez on 101, 102 and 103 consecutively. He also had 3 other pitches that game that were 104. And he said "not the best I’ve ever felt, but I felt good."

Correia doesn't have electric stuff but I like what I'm seeing from him. The way he goes about his business, very professional work.

Sure shut down the Reds tonight lol.

On Chapman's 105 pitches last year, wasn't one of them the game losing hit, and didn't they come in to re-calibrate the gun shortly after that and knocked it down a couple mph? That is my recollection anyway.
  • wildcats20
According to the article, the record setting/breaking pitch was a ball, inside. And I read somewhere that is is officially listed at 105.1
  • dave
the stadium gun is a couple mph fast, always has been. He's hit 106 on it before.

Either way pretty ridiculous considering some thought his arm was messed up. I believe his record speed is 105.7 and it was out on the west coast last fall.

    105.1 sounds about right too

9-3 sounds about right, too! Great win for the Pirates, as they simply dominated this one to move to .500 on the season.

Same story different year. The pirates always seem to kill the reds in an early series. But the reds will get it together and the pirates will continue to suck and play in front of 30 ppl.

Everyone was at Macy's. They heard there was a great 6-for-none sale on t shirts.
  • Fidmeister
They need to recalibrate the guns again. He doesn't throw that hard.

you know what would be awesome, though? If he could sustain it on a second day.
