And...I'd guess you'd call it bad luck. Small market teams tend to have to not waste much of what money they put into players if they want to be successful. In the past couple of years, the most highly-paid guys on Cleveland have been:
Sizemore: injury-prone and ineffective.
Hafner: injury-prone and has suffered a major power outage in recent years.
Westbrook (before traded to St. Louis): injury-prone and never really moved above #3 starter level.
That's just a killer when the few players that a small-market team is shelling out the cash for wind up being disappointments. You couldn't predict it when they got the contracts. Sizemore was a perennial all-star in the making, Hafner could mail in 40/100 lines and Westbrook had the potential to be an upper-rotation starter for years. -

I didn't think it was possible to troll when you are largely being positive about the team being discussed. What do I know though, I just went to Marietta CollegeOther posters disagree. I guess because I didn't go to Marietta I wouldn't understand.
If he's trolling then you're trolling the Penguins thread. Other posters agree. -

Over the time this site has existed, it has been repeatedly proven the whole "Marietta College" thing is a HUGE deal-breaker. -

These are very good points that I didn't go into. All 3 of these players, when given their contracts were very good and performing at a level condusive to their contracts.Heretic;732353 wrote:And...I'd guess you'd call it bad luck. Hafner has looked more like himself, to start the year, than he has since given his contract. Hopefully he's back. Sizemore is the key. If he could get anywhere near where he was before his injuries, this lineup would really be good.....crossing fingers. They have a lot of money tied up in these 2 guys. That's what makes their performance so critical. -

Such as on a thread concerning a particular hockey team where people who aren't fans of that team are quite active in taking a "devil's advocate" tone in pointing out any potential negative scenario that could happen while attempting the defense of "you're a homer who can't accept a non-homer view" when anyone gets pissed. Seems like others could use that same defense when those sorts use words like "controllbution" because someone else pointed out crappy attendance.
Shut up troll. Pirates avatar, Indians thread... thus anything you post is trolling, obviously. -

Fuck... GO TEAMS!!! Take that! -
trep14What if I don't have an avatar? Am I not allowed to post on any team specific threads? Darn it!

jordo212000For what it is worth, Common Man was talking about the Indians attendance woes today on 97.1 the Fan. Said that 8,000 fans was an "embarrassment." Called it Montreal Expos-esque.
So there you have it, it just isn't me talking about this kind of stuff. If you don't believe me, search Indians+attendance on Google News. There are several articles that come up. I guess that everybody in the media are being trolls as well, right? -

HitsRusI'm giving jordo a free pass....the guy is right...and there is no slander in the truth. 8,000 fans IS embarrassing. BUT it's not the fans of Cleveland fault. Management has ripped the heart out of it's fans.....and my former group is the proof. Nobody is going to spend for shit if the owner himself won't spend. Cleveland fans will come out again when the product on the field improves. For many years they supported the team even when they were rebuilding in the mid 2000's. But I think there is a line when people get frustrated....and I think management crossed that line. The team better turn around quickly, and the front office better show that it is committed to building/keeping a winner in the town.

hoops23These are the same fans who continue to sell out Cleveland Browns stadium and the Cavs games...
There is MAJOR resentment against Dolan. Myself included.
This team has some very good talent, but the FO hasn't put out the needed resources to keep them at a championship level. Point blank..
