Is Bass fishing a sport ?

I have not been out yet, but, seen some boats out on Berlin Lake yesterday. And fishing from the road, too.

Good day, my friend was right about the tide and current was right both directions. I baitcasted some finger mullet for my live well bucket, then caught 3 jack crevalles, 16-28". The 3rd one crushed the bait like a boss. Had a couple others spit the hook. Saw a 4 ft. flying stingray upclose. Couldn't find any drum, spooked a handful of reds.
Going to test fit the outriggers tomorrow. I'll be sight fishing standing in a kayak.

Speed - I see you have the Hobie Mirage. Do you have the peddle drive model? Best fishing boat ever for getting into hard to reach spots.

it takes no athletic ability what so ever...see John Daly. Bowling, golf, and especially Bass fishing are not sports. Golf you compete against yourself, no one else dictates how well you do...other golfers aren't in your face trying to block your shot and there isn't a goalie blocking the hole. Golf is pretty much like darts...takes skill but not a sport

Yes its the Hobie Outback SUV. Only thing I have to watch out for is oyster beds. Those pics were just inshore from Ponce Inlet. I've been places where alligators are bigger than the kayak. (mosquito lagoon has the biggest, they are protected in the wildlife refuge, a few 14 footers. )

Really that's your response? Way to bring nothing to the table idiot.

GTFOH is a great reason why they might be sports....so is STFU.

Is that the type that has two legs/arms that swing out to make it more sturdy?

I was at a fishing expo last winter at the Dayton Airport expo center and they had one on display that made it so much easier to fish from a kayak.

no, Hobie is just a reg shape. You're probably thinking of the Freedom Hawk or Hammacher Schlemmer. I'm making something like this because there is no great product on the market. Hobie and Scotty have inflatable floats, that won't last around oyster beds.

I'm using rocket launcher rod holders and not drilling any holes. The pvc will stick up like spider legs and I'll be able to adjust the buoy height with set screws on the ends.

The one I am thinking of has bigger "rudders" or legs whatever ya wanna call them and they fulling fold into the back of the kayak I believe

Great pics Speed...while we will never agree on football teams I would love to bring my Mirage down from OH and fish the flats with you sometime. Good luck on the
    out-rigger idea.

anytime Tiernan. Might not always catch nice fish but its always good to be on the water. I know the waters pretty well from St Aug. to Cocoa.
btw, my fishing team is better than your fishing team. lol

    fail as usual

The National Guard sponsors it. The school is receiving money, not wasting it.

Stumbled upon a bass fishing torunament at Buckeye Outdoors last weekend. I guess they were fishing Buckeye Lake. Guy that won the big bass had a NICE 5.5 lb fish, then his other 3 weighed a total of 3.9 lbs lol.
