NHL Trade Deadline
-
gorocks99Probably won't be too crazy today, as a lot of bigger moves have already been made, but there are still some big pieces out there that could be moved:
Brad Richards
Ales Hemsky
John-Michael Liles
Robyn Regehr
Tomas Vokoun
J.S. Giguere
It will be interesting to see who goes where and what teams are the biggest winners as we approach the 3pm deadlines. -
gorocks99List of trades so far today (will update this post as trade occur):
St Louis sends Brad Boyes to Buffalo for a 2011 2nd round pick
Atlanta acquires Radek Dvorak from Florida for Bergfors and Rissmiller
Washington gets Dennis Wideman from Florida for prospect Jake Hauswirth and a 3rd round pick.
Columbus gets Scottie Upshall and Sami Lepisto for Rostislav Klesla and a minor league player
Carolina picks up Bryan Allen from Florida for Sergei Samsonov
Chicago gets Chris Campoli from Ottawa for a minor league player and draft pick
Brad Winchester is headed to Anaheim from St Louis for a 3rd round pick
Los Angeles gets Dustin Penner from Edmonton for 2011 1st round pick, Colten Teubert, and a conditional pick
Washington receives Jason Arnott from the Devils for Dave Steckel.
Fredrik Modin heads from Atlanta to Calgary for a draft pick
Vancouver gets Chris Higgins from Florida for Oberg and a 3rd rounder. Still waiting confirmation if Florida has a team left. -
gorocks99I guess Toronto is out of the Liles running: http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/id/5124/leafs-out-of-john-michael-liles-race
From what I've read, Columbus and Toronto were front runners. Does that leave only the Jackets? -
TedShecklerRichards is only waiving his NTC to go to the Rags. And from what was reported earlier last week, they'd have to give up a lot to get him. High price for a rental.
Portzline has said that Liles would waive his NMC to come to Columbus. A 2nd and Russell going back to Colorado would be good. -
End of LineRegehr isn't going to be moved
-
Raw Dawgin' itScottie Upshall and Sami Lepisto to the Blue Jackets for Rostislav Klesla
-
ohiotiger33Good move, Klesla is an injury machine.
-
gorocks99A couple more moves added to the list above
-
End of LineToday has been slow.......
-
gorocks99Winchester is the latest move.
-
TedShecklerPenner to the Kings
-
gorocks99Decent get for LA. They wanted to make a move for offense and got a serviceable young guy.
-
TedShecklerEdmonton rapes LA in that trade. Penner to the Kings for a 1st, 3nd and Teubert. Penner carries a $4.25M contract.
-
gorocks99In the long term, yeah, no doubt. Kings wanted to make something happen for the now.
-
gorocks99And that's it, I think. What an underwhelming day. None of the big names moved, unless the papers are sitting in the league office waiting for approval.
-
gorocks99Sounds like we could still see Arnott head to Washington ... waiting for confirmation.
Edit: Confirmed. Headed to Washington for Dave Steckel. -

Finally some payback for the Gretzky heist? -

I think the line is, "good player when healthy". When has been healthy for a whole season? Maybe RJ can talk his old Philly teammate Upshall into re-signing. -
gorocks99Four of Klesla's eight season had him play more than 70 games. The other four seasons were 47, 51, 34, and 26 games. Plus this year, he has played 45 of a possible 61 games. Will have less than 70 yet again for sure.
I'm excited to see what Upshall can bring to the table. Even if they squeak into the playoffs this year though, the Jackets have to make some exciting moves this offseason to really make a push next year. No more waiting. -
End of LineEDM got the better end of the deal w/o a doubt.
