its a lost cause. Braves play the Nationals who have won 9 of 11 and then the Phillies to finish the season, who will magically snap out of their funk to get their lineup and rotation in tune for the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Cards play the Cubs and Astros. Those should be really competitive games.Ironman92;906196 wrote:I'm saving the season for you lotz

Tiger2003Nats beat the Phillies again.

Ironman92The Cubs are a pain in the ass and hate the Cardinals and Houston...well everyone on the season is auditioning for next year roster spot.
Braves will win by 2 games. -
Ironman924 Royals have 40+ doubles this year

I am, and you're right, with one small difference.karen lotz;906198 wrote:I'll assume you are a Cleveland fan. They sure knew how to wrap up a playoff push. Only 13 games back now.
The Indians haven't been in 1st place since late July and didn't lead the division by more than 7 games all season (and that was in May). The Braves and Red Sox both had 9 game leads on the wild card at the beginning of September.
One was a nice, slow, predictable descent. The other was an ongoing 90-degree plummet that came out of nowhere at the worst possible time. -
karen lotzI see. Nice spin.

Ironman92Good God....something has to be done with the umpiring....the Rays fighting for their playoff lives down 4-2 with a runner on 2nd and Matt Joyce batting 2-2 count and on a check swing that was less than looking like enough for a strike the ump just rang him up himself without even checking 3rd....I just don't see how you do that.

Thank you. And kudos to you too. Solid passive aggressive attack on the Indians to deflect attention away from the Braves wildcard lead shrinking by 7 games in 20 days.karen lotz;906259 wrote:I see. Nice spin. -
karen lotzYou deflected the Indians collapse by taking joy in Atlanta and Boston struggling. Kudos to you too!
-
MulvaYou can't deflect something that isn't being directed at you and isn't even being discussed, so I wasn't doing that at all with my first post and therefore can't accept your generous offer of kudos.
I couldn't care less about the Braves struggling. I'd actually probably prefer them making the playoffs over the Cardinals. That doesn't change the fact that it would be an epic collapse if it happens, and that they took another step toward it tonight. I take a lot of joy in Boston failing though. Too bad the Rays aren't capitalizing.
And I took a little joy at your defensive response to me pointing it out too. -
chicago510Yankees clinch AL East with doubleheader sweep.
Red Sox lose again to O's but Rays can't take advantage.
Rays and Angels 2.5GB in AL Wild Card -

Tiger2003And the Phillies are down 2-0 in the 4th. The Nats looking for a 4 game sweep. Coming into tonight the Phillies have lost 9 out of 13 and haven't won since clinching the East and Home field. Hope starting this weekend they set their lineup and play with that.

Huge and terrible loss for the Cardinals. Can't do that in the final week.karen lotz;907217 wrote:Mets just scored 6 in the 9th to beat the Cardinals 8-6. WC lead at 2, magic number down to 5. -

No, that isn't what I meant. "Shit" as in have a near collapse and make the wildcard race come down to the wire after holding a large lead for most of the season. Don't get your panties in a bunch, it wasn't a knock on the Braves.karen lotz;907220 wrote:If by do shit you mean made the playoffs, then yes. -
karen lotzMoylan has a torn rotator cuff and labrum. Tommy Hanson threw two innings in an instructional league game before leaving with discomfort in shoulder. He is probably done for the year. IF Braves hold on to the wild card, the playoff rotation will be Hudson and 3 rookies.

Ironman92Pretty good stuff in Milwaukee as Ryan Braun hit mammoth HR off the scoreboard in CF in the bottom of the 8th to break a 1-1 tie and seal the NL Central....and my vote for MVP unless Kemp can muster the triple crown. Full house crowd going bazerk.
