    Wow...Totally out of nowhere.

Someone want to get rid of that E on Sloan for me?

This sucks. One of the great coaches and great men in the NBA.

I hope someone gets in his head and he re-thinks this decision. Take the All-Star break to think it over.

Probably was getting sick of pussies bolting when the going gets tough.

He is a good PG but screw Deron Williams if he had anything to do with Sloan wanting to quit. Its the new selfish players that care more about their own stats than wining. (Hint: LeBron come to mind?) System is to restrictive=I aint getting my points.

I read a blog entry on Yahoo about that. Something like 1900 games coached for the Jazz and enough playoff games coached to fill 2.5 seasons.

Cue up the Deron Williams to New York rumors.

Interesting thought: Would this exact same Cavs team be on a 26 game losing streak if Jerry Sloan were the coach?

Read the link provided. He is fed up with the "me" generation athletes. Deron Williams publicly calling his offense too restrictive would be one reason.

A heated exchange with his GM, heard by some media, after last nights game would be another.

Where in that entire article does he said hes fed up with the "Me" generation?

He doesn't. I think the article was edited, but it didn't say anything about that before either.

This could be a plus for Sloan. It is VERY hard to win a championship in Utah. It is not a attractive place for Free Agents. Now he has the opportunity to sit out for a little bit and wait for a big market job to open up. He will be one of the top candidates for any future NBA coaching job.

He is 68 years old. I think he is done with coaching.

I had thought he just signed a contract extension a few days or weeks ago did he not?

His long-time assistant Phil Johnson stepped down too, I find that very weird.

And they announced that the "replacement" for Sloan will be Ty Corbin. And that he will NOT be an interim coach.

Deron Williams has publicly criticized Sloan's offense, saying it is too restrictive. Sloan is old school and these guys now are all about getting their numbers. These are both factual. You may draw your own conclusion.

Not really, I believe Johnson has been with Sloan his entire career in Utah and Johnson had said a while back that when Jerry hangs it up so does he.

Jerry himself said it came as a surprise that he walked away too.

I agree that hes old school and that would bother him with williams saying that, just none of that was mentioned in the article you told me to read.
  • september63
You are correct. Perhaps I made my own conclusion to why he is leaving.

Yahoo Sports............Sloan became tired of Deron Williams "blaming everything on someone else". After the altercation, at halftime of the Feb 9th game vs the Bulls, Sloan decided to leave at that time.
