Good point. And it also might be good enough for the 8 seed in the east. I'm starting to like that roster.

i think its going to be a long time before the cavs are good again unless they get a few #1 elite picks.these guys have to be superstars not just stars.

I don't think he would fair to well down on the block against any NBA big man that's worth a damn. Then you have us trading Parker for James Johnson. I like the idea of trading Parker, but I'd rather get someone other than a SF. I mean, we've already got like 3 or 4 SF's, and since you have us drafting Perry Jones, I think were pretty much set at the SF spot. I'm not sure I like the idea of trading for Rip either. I mean the dudes 32, how much does he have left in the tank? If were going to trade, I'd like for them to go after someone young, either a SG or C, preferably. I'm all for getting rid of Tawn, but i'd like it to be for someone better than Jason Smith. I dunno, just my opinion.
Draftexpress.com has Jones as a 4. They also having him going number 2 in the draft and the 2nd best freshman(Irving). Of the top 100 prospects, he is ranked 4th(Irving, Valanciunas and Sullinger).

There is also a good video of his highlights and a good read about his strengths/weaknesses.

I don't like what I've seen from Perry, although I've only seen 3-4 games. If they don't go PG or C, I'd like to see Jordan Hamilton from Texas. I think he'd be great alongside Andy and JJ.

Yeah. I'm not a big fan of Jones either. The guy is an athletic freak, just seems a little too passive.

I take Kyrie Irving if he is there/comes out. I think that kid will be the next Chris Paul

Sorry, Hickson is okay, Andy is okay, the other two probably should be in the D league.

Just depends on where you look I guess. Like COA, I use nbadraft.net, and this is from their article on Perry Jones.

"His NBA position is definitely on the wing as his perimeter skills - notably ball handling, lateral foot speed and athleticism - are phenomenal"

They have him going third overall.

The is by far the worst core of building blocks in the NBA. That's why you make everyone expendable.

For sure, it's pretty well known they will trade just about anyone. Problem is their best player is hurt so he has no value. JJ isn't going anywhere, he's putting up over 15 and 10 now while playing out of position. Everyone else is overpaid or not worth anything. They need 4 good picks the next 2 years. You have to look at Harris and Eyenga as bonus first round picks. They shouldn't be in the league yet but if they were in the draft this year or next they would probably be 1st rounders.

Tie breaker...Haha....ESPN has him as PF. I guess its all about where the team drafting him would want him to play.
  • Jester
Yeah, I suppose a team could use him as a stretch 4, but I personally believe he'd be better suited as a wing player.

People who aren't impressed with Perry Jones need to watch him more often in my opinion. He's averaging over 18 ppg on under 11 shots in conference play (10 games). That's unbelievable efficiency. He doesn't just have sick length and athleticism, he has the handles and quickness of a wing player. If he improves his outside jumper he has a chance to be a stud. He does need to become more aggressive (and he definitely is more aggressive now compared to where he was at the beginning of the year), but he has all the tools physically. Being too unselfish is not a bad trait to have as your biggest knock.

His skill set reminds me of a mixture of Jeff Green and Kevin Durant (not as good of a shooter yet)

I do think he's more athletic than those two though. His athleticism is very rare....we're talking Griffin/LeBron/Young KG type athleticism.

Well I know that but I'm on my phone and I use tapatalk and I would have had to close out of the app and go to my browser and then my tapa talk decides to suck and it takes for ever to get back into the site so that's why

So did you see all those games or are you just looking at the box score? The only ones I remember being on TV were KState and Kansas, both on ESPN. Kansas is a much better team but he was dominated by the Morris brothers. Against KState I think I remember him picking up 2 early fouls and after that he didn't seem to know what to do.

Putting up numbers on the bottom half of the Big 12 is probably worse than playing teams like Indiana, Northwestern, Rutgers, Seton Hall in the Big 10 or Big East. He definitely has a high ceiling but he still has a lot to work on. It's hard to succeed in the NBA if he are under 250 and can't even attempt a 3 pointer.

I flip around a lot watching games, but the Baylor games I remember watching since conference play started were Oklahoma State, Kansas, and Texas A&M. I saw them play Gonzaga and Washington State out of conference at least. He tore up against A&M, and I'm not sure what game you were watching against Kansas but the Morris' definitely didn't "dominate" him. Kansas dominated Baylor, but Jones held his own. He didn't play great defensively, but Acy got abused much more than he did and he played well offensively.

Just looked up the stats, Jones made 1 jump shot in the Kansas game, had 2 boards, and 0 assists. Yes, he put up 20 points, but there are hundreds of college kids who can do that. I watch games to see what can translate into the NBA. No doubt the guy is a freak athlete and he can get to the rim.

Didn't see the Gonzaga or WSU games, but IMO and potential #1 should be able to take those games over and get the W for his team, especially one with as much talent as Baylor. Looks like he put up decent numbers, but they lost both.

He was much more passive back at the beginning of the year, so yeah he never even really attempted to take either of those games over. He still defers to Dunn too much, but he's getting better at demanding the ball from the last couple of games I've seen. I think he easily has the most upside of anybody in the draft. We'll just have to wait and see how things play out.
