Steelers Questions?
-
Ironman92Why not EVER put Mike Wallace on returns?
Special team penalties....killer
When we reach the edge of FG range......horrible playcalling.
2nd and or 2.....beware the long ball William Gay.......and Bruce Arians...it works far better than handing off when the entires stadium knows it's coming.
The better team with better all-around coaches won.
Damnit!
Congrats Packers! -
THE4RINGZThe packers were the better team tonight. My question is why we were so.conservative on offense especially in the second half.
Bit then again the Steelers coaches know more.about football than I do. -
killer_ewokStop turning the fucking ball over.
-
NonThere are so many "what ifs" it will drive you crazy.
But clearly a bad decision on the 52-yard FG.
And I thought early on bad decision to throw on 3rd and 1 or 2 when it was high for Miller. Should have been a run.
Mendenhall's fumble was probably the most pivotal play. Just in terms of momentum. I felt great to start the fourth quarter at 21-17 and the ball at the Packers 35.
Keyaron Fox is an idiot. -
killer_ewokFox fucked up big time.
-
OQBWill Hines Ward be back next year or will he retire? Many said if he won another ring he would be done....what are your thoughts?
-
killer_ewokHe'll be back.
-
NonIt just kills me that these guys put their little battles ahead of the ultimate goal.
So what that you're in a little scrap after the kickoff play is over. Get away. There are two minutes left in the Super Bowl and you need a touchdown and field position is critical. -
DaBrowns41Brown's going to be one hell of a return man once he gets a bit more experience and confidence.
I don't think I'd want to risk one of my biggest offensive play makers in the return game. Not many teams do that. Wallace's 21 YPC >>>> A few nice returns.
Wallace is a stud. Emmanuel Sanders can be a solid #3 with better hands. Now it's just going to be trying to find a new #1 in the next few years for the aging Ward. -
HereticThree turnovers was the deciding factor. One returned for a touchdown, two others set the Packers up with a short field for a score. In a six-point game, it's easy to say that if the Steelers had one fewer miscue or if they forced a GB screw-up, they'd have wound up winning. Things didn't happen that way, though. Shit happens.

Truth. -
thavoiceAbout Wallace as a return guy...
Many teams, to my knowledge, allow one of their top receivers double as a return man anymore. Some teams have tried to take their great return guys and put them into the WR role more prominantly.
Just the way the NFL seems to be....but i could be wrong.
Yeah...the mendenhall fumble was the killer. ALl the MO is on our side. Great field position.
21 points off turnovers.....but the thing is teh defense needs to step it up after a TO. The pick 6 nothing could be done. The last TO they drove over 50 yards for a TD. Forget how long the drive was on teh second INT. Defense needs to step up after a turnover like that, and they faild to do so.
Rodgers was rattled..as was the offesne. Some dropped passes...some errant throws...some alligator arms by GB receivers. After mendhalls fumble that was all she wrote.
That last drive....looked like a preseason two minute drill. Very disappointed.
BR made too many errant throws. Shoulda hada TD to Wallace on teh deep route...but those are low percentage. Too many short passes he was off on that sustain drives.
GB did what I expected them to do on offense. Abandon the run....and pass pass pass. That is how you beat the steelers........that is not a secret.
Thing is......not many teams can execute that type of game plan.
All in all.......WEre the steelers a bit complacant coming in? Iit wasnt until they were down 21-3 did they even look like they had a sense of urgency.
Cannot say I was surprised how it all went last night. I really am not. Some took my words as reverse curse type of stuff...and the over the top stuff was, but this was just not a good matchup for the steelers.
I guess in teh grand scheme of things....4 SB in my adult lifetime.....and two wins. Most fans would kill for that. WOulda loved to get number 7 but it was not in the cards.
The OL needs addressed, that is for sure, and depth in the secondary. Farrior, Ward are in their late stages. SMith is as well, but Hood has played well and could be a star. If they could address the OL I think the offense would click much better.
In the SB.......dont know what else can be said. We all know what lost it..........-3 in the TO game. Game. Set. Match. It is hard to beat bad teams when ya get zero TO's and give three away.
Great season though...most did not expect it -
I Wear PantsWe need to get better coverage guys in our secondary. And an O-line.
-
thavoicePeople ALWAYS say that about our secondary.
Always.
We would LOVE to have other teams not be able to comlete any passes...or have each receiver covered completely.
Steelers is a high risk, high reward defense. Alot of blitzes....alot of zone blitzes.......sending the OLB's pretty much every blitz that leaves teh flats open and the DB's on an island more than some defensive schemes.
Sure it can get better....but overall I cannot complain too much. -
wgh raidervoice i was thinking the same things you were you cant do anything about a pick six but the D did nothing to stop the pack on the other 2 turnovers. i think pro football has changed to almost a playstation game. when the ravens won there super bowl it may have been the last dominant defense to do it. actually even without pouncey the Oline really didnt do bad yesterday.they ran the ball pretty decent and ben wasnt snowed over which i thought might happen when they were down 21-3. remember besides pouncey being healthy next year the steelers will have starks and colon back on the Oline.maybe it was because of the steelers falling behind 21-3 but with the success they had running the ball you think ben wouldve had more success passing and hitting more big plays because i truly thought the ravens and the jets with ryans schemes were better then the packer defense.i do agree after pittsburgh made that last first down those were about the most strangest plays i saw arians call all year. if this is the voice i think it is i will look for you at the tournaments.

I Wear Pantsthavoice, that's fine and it works great but it obviously wasn't yesterday so we need to have guys that are able to cover better.

thavoice that I think I am? Well...i have been thavoice on a few sites for about 10 years, or more...but do not know what tournaments you are speaking of...shoot me a PM.
Schemes can only get ya so far. I thought they should have done more playaction passing on first down. STeelers telegraph the run quite a bit with their formation. They say....hey.we are running....try and stop us. A good pass by BR on first and ten to wallace woulda been a TD. It isnt always the play called...it is when they are called. On the 2 pt conversion...reminded me of the Slash and mularkey days. I was hoping to see Randel El throw a pass. Can mendenhall throw? When ya get the ball at teh 20 and run the sweep play that is a golden time for a trick play. Bettis threw a few TD..and LT was great at that too.
Pants...yeah...we would all love to have guys to cover better. No doubt. Does not help when McFaddy is ailing. CB is one of the toughest jobs in football right behind QB, and with the rules as they are it is darned near impossible. Top notch QB's can throw for 300+ on any defense that does not get alot of pressure on the QB. I think three sacks....but for the most part the blitzes were kept out of Rodgers face...mostly because of the shorter passing attack.
