Fernando Torres to Chelsea. Andy Carroll to replace him at Anfield.

lhslep134Wonderful...

Can't say I didn't see it coming, just didn't want it to ever come. -
rock_knutneDidn't Liverpool sign Suarez from Ajax too? I think Liverpool made out with these transfers, not like Torres was setting the world on fire.
-
SportsAndLadyAndy Carroll is good, Liverpool will be fine. It would have been devastating without the Carroll signing. And yes they also picked up Suarez, and although I really really really hate Suarez..dude is a baller and a pure scorer..his goal numbers are unreal.
-
DeyDurkie5Torres isn't that great. He had a few good years where people were all over his nuts. Now he has settled down, and hasn't done shit for the most part. I think its' a good move on Liverpool's part. Carroll is a young gun who is only going to get better. I don't see Torres having that type of ceiling, although they should've got a little more for Torres
-
sportchamppsTorres is a great player he has just struggled since his injury give him some downtime this offseason and I bet he tears it up again. Carroll has been great this year and is a force in the air for sure. I almost feel like players who played in the world cup and didnt get a break are helping well rested players like carroll look better then they are

he will be hurt in no time -
Laley23I dont think Torres will ever be healthy again, so great move by L'Pool. I love Suarez and Carrol is the kind of poacher who thrives in the EPL. Reminds me a little of Pippo Inzaghi on Serie A.
-
killdeerreally interesting move....series of moves...this is what keeps the EPL interesting.
Carroll is probably a bit underrated...in the box he is a force, although moving with the ball has never been his strength.
Commander Torres is the kind of international stud that gets rejuvenated by a move like this.
This just might keep Chelsea in Champions League for next year.
maybe. -
SageAston Villa won the transfer window. 50 milli pounds for Torres, looooooooooooool.
-
AutomatikCan't believe the fee was that high. Not sure how it will turn out for Chelsea. He looked like balls the last few times I saw him, as said....probably do to injury. I could see him going off for Chelsea..next season.
-
lhslep134Yeah Torres' best days COULD be behind him. But lets not forget, he's only 26 and if hes on form, him and Drogba could be deadly (although you could argue Drogba has lost a step).
I think the Reds definitely made out, "trading" Torres for Suarez and Carroll. I think a shakeup was necessary at Anfield and getting younger definitely doesn't hurt. -
Laley23Only way I see Torres returning to his best days is to be on a Chelsea team who doesnt qualify for anything and he takes a year or more off of the National Team. He has run into his healthy issues when he has been playing a lot. Having only a week off and "mini" vacations during the International breaks would do wonders. Unfortunately, when he is healthy/producing, he wont turn down Spain, especially with Euros coming up next season and Spain having quite a few choices to choose over him should he not play during the qualifying.
-
swamisezThe only scenario that made sense to me was the idea that Lvrpool had figured Torres was firmly at the end of the line, and they were trying to salvage what they could for him.
I would like to think the toll of playing international for Spain has taken quite a bit from him, but if he and Drogba can mesh they will each have the load lessened and could put up great numbers for a couple seasons.
Liverpool under new ownership looks like they are really going to shake things up and retool the roster.
I wish half the leagues across the world were as entertaining as the EPL -
Murdski99Great move for liverpool the squad needed to add some depth up front very badly. Would take the combo of Suarez/Caroll over Torres anyday.
-
lhslep134Liverpool with the 1-0 win! Raul Meireles with the winner in the 68th
Torres replaced at 65 lol -
SportsAndLadyThat game was sad for Chelsea.

CinciX12One would assume that taking one of the best players from a team would imply that you are in a good position to beat said team. Wtf.
