Cleveland Browns Brownout in 2011

All brown pants and tops is the goal for one game in 2011. Checkout the facebook page I made with the same title. If you need proof check out these details.

Changes to everything below the head got me thinking and reflecting. Doesn't it seem every time an NFL team — an NFL team that is a perennial loser — changes its uniform winning seasons follow?

New England Patriots: Changed its logo to the current look in 1993. The Pats have had only two losing seasons since and appeared in four Super Bowls, winning three.

Philadelphia Eagles: Radically altered its uniforms in 1996 from kelly green to midnight green. The Eagles have had only four losing seasons since and reached a Super Bowl.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Changed its look in 1997. The Bucs went from 6-10 in 1996 to 10-6 in 1997 and started six consecutive seasons with at least a .500 record culminating in the 2002 Super Bowl victory.

Seattle Seahawks: In 2002, the Seahawks went with some different colors and some changes to its uniform in conjunction with its move from the AFC to the NFC. The team had five consecutive winning seasons and, in 2005, the Seahawks were NFC Champions.

Arizona Cardinals: In 2005, the Cardinals updated the logo on its helmet and its uniforms. It was met with two 5-11 seasons. In 2007, Arizona was 8-8, 9-7 in 2008 and 10-6 last season. The 2008 season was the Cardinals first appearance in the Super Bowl.

Of course, a uniform change isn't always met with success.

St. Louis Rams: Their old look (yellow and blue) in 1999 when they won the Super Bowl. The next season, St. Louis changed it colors (gold and navy blue) and returned to the Super Bowl, but lost.
Detroit Lions: New uniforms for the 2009 season. The Lions are picking second overall in April's draft.

San Diego Chargers: They went to white helmets and different uniforms in 2007. The story remained the same. A solid regular season was met with postseason disappointment.

Most Browns fans can agree the helmets should not be touched. But perhaps a slight change to the jerseys and pants could bring some good Karma Cleveland's way? Heck, after so many losing seasons, I'm willing to try anything.

Sorry but I think the Brownie sucks.

Didn't the Denver Broncos also win back-to-back Super Bowls in 1997-98 after changing over from their "Orange Crush" uni's? Granted, they had great players like John Elway, Terrell Davis and Shannon Sharpe so that helped but still.

My friend wrote a pretty good blog post about this a few years ago. It goes into great detail for every team.
