1-Year deal & could be worth $3M with an incentive package -
stroupsI like it
-
wildcats20Reds have not said anything about the signing yet, but Edgar told ESPNdeportes that he had signed the deal.
-
ernest_t_bassSweet action.
-
gerb131Works for me. He should be a solid contributer.
-
jordo212000He played well for the Giants toward the end of the year. I wonder how much gas is left in the tank though? I'm guessing this will allow Janish to get a good bit of PT
-
Ironman92He's pretty motivated to show the Giants how much they didn't appreciate him. Give him or Janish the starts....whatever....Edgar knows his baseball. Could be a pesky/clutch guy off the bench late in game as well.
Not too many players have 2 World Series clinching hits. -

Late inning hitting off the bench is the key thing in my mind. -
darbypitcher22see how much he really plays. he's getting up there in age

my thoughts as well. Although this probably means the Reds are set with Janish being the main guy. Renteria will probably get a lot of PT, but he's not going to be able play everyday.
I got all excited when 97.1 the Fan gave a teaser that said the Reds made a "big time deal" -
Ironman92yeah, he's getting up there in age....but just 3 months ago he was the best player in WS
-
mhs95_06I don't like the idea that Edgar has the impression that he is THE Reds 'full-time' shortstop. What did the Reds tell him for him to get that impression?
-
SportsAndLadyYa he seemed pretty cocky...probably pissed Janish off so bad lol
-
charliehustle14Reds signed Fred Lewis to a one year deal
I think I really like this deal. A guy who can run, hit leadoff if need be, and play all 3 OF spots. 31 doubles last year with Toronto is a pretty big deal, IMO.

SportsAndLadyI liked the signing as well...career .271 hitter and hes only 30.
-
charliehustle14Plus he's always sporting bad ass Oakley sunglasses.
-
jordo212000Fred Lewis is a nice pickup
-
SportsAndLadyEven though this great news deserves its own thread, i'll just place it here.
Sean Casey will be doing commentary on 15 Reds games this year -

I saw a tweet that said that the other day. This is some of the best news of the offseason. -
Ironman92I pray to God it's not with Chris Welsh or George Grande.
-
swamisezDidn't we do this a few years ago? Oh wait that was Alex Gonzalez, not Renteria. We will see.
They must really wonder about Janish defensively. What does Jock know that we don't? -
Laley23Really like the Lewis pick up for the Redlegs. As for Edgar, guy has a knack for making it to the playoffs and making something big happen while there. Hes a lot like Big Shot Rob (Horry).
-
Red SaulA nice leadoff hitter with some speed who should do some good things playing at Great American.

The move reminded me of the Orlando Cabrera move from last season
