NFL Coaching Changes

  • OQB
With mangini still the head coach, McDaniels (Belichick tree) would be a perfect fit. You can't even bring up money, because we are still paying 2 other coaches that are no longer coaching the Browns.....money is not the issue, the issue is if Mangini stays or goes. I believe if he stays, Josh will be our new OC.
  • OQB
OK well 2 coaching spots have been freed or taken....

    Browns Fire Mangini
    Vikings hire Frazier

    Who else gets fired/hired?
  • wildcats20
Jason Garrett will be named Cowboys head coach as soon as they "interview" their current WR coach to satisfy the Rooney Rule.

John Clayton said if Marvin Lewis is fired as the Bengals coach that he could be the next head coach in Pittsburgh....

What??? head coach in Pittsburgh??? Do you mean assistant coach or coordinator......I don't think Tomlin is on the hot seat.

Why would McDaniels go to Cleveland? Don't he and Hillis butt heads?

Haha Yeah, it's more like Hillis and McD's wife bumping uglies.

    Well through Tuesday:

    Browns Fire Mangini
    Vikings hire Frazier
    Bengals resign Lewis
Raiders don't pick up option on Cable
    Texans keep Kubiak
    Giants Keep Coughlin

    Coaches still could be fired:

    Carolina Panthers
    Tennessee Titans
    Miami Dolphins
  • LJ
Just saw that the Titans are getting rid of Young, looks like they decided to keep Fisher over Young
  • Iliketurtles
    Smart move for the Titans.
  • wildcats20
Isn't Fox out at Carolina pretty much a done deal? As in it didn't need a presser or anything?

And Al Davis getting rid of Cable is just another mistake in the long, long list of them he has made over the years. While he might not have been the coach to get them over the top, he is getting at least somewhere near the "top". Need to stick it out 2-3 more years with him at the helm and if it doesn't improve, then you get rid of him. He has that team going in the right direction for the first time in forever.

Oh wait, this is Al Davis I am talking about. Never mind.

buddy just texted me that the dolphins have offered harbaugh $8,000,000 per year.

    anyone confirming this?

i'm leary since they haven't officially fired sparano, and haven't talked to anyone else that I know of (including cowher, who said he wants the job).

just trying to get solid word before i rejoice at Henning and sparano's demise.
  • THE4RINGZ
I heard a similar story on the Jim Rome Show today regarding Miami's offer to Harbaugh.

    Well through Thursday:

    Browns Fire Mangini
    Vikings hire Frazier
    Bengals resign Lewis
Raiders don't pick up option on Cable
    Texans keep Kubiak
    Giants Keep Coughlin
    Panthers fire Fox
    Cowboys hire Garrett
    Dolphins Keep Sparano

    Coaches still could be fired:
Tennessee Titans---Unlikely now with Vince gone.

Teams still looking for their next coach:
    49ers
    Broncos
    Browns
    Panthers
    Raiders

    Edit: Dolphins keeping Sparano.
  • DaBrowns41
Browns interviewed Pat Schumur, and will be intereviewing Mike Mularkey and Perry Fewell in the next few days as well.
  • OQB
Harbaugh Hired by the 49ers today. 5 year/$25 million
  • OQB
Sparano gets an extension from Dolphins.....I really don't get why Miami had to do that shady business behind his back to try and get Harbaugh, then give him an extension...doesn't make much sense and makes them look really bad.
  • OQB
    As of 1-11-11:

    Browns Fire Mangini
    Vikings hire Frazier
    Bengals resign Lewis
Raiders don't pick up option on Cable
    Texans keep Kubiak
    Giants Keep Coughlin
    Panthers fire Fox
    Cowboys hire Garrett
    Dolphins Keep Sparano
    49ers hire Harbaugh
    Panthers hire Rivera

Teams still looking for their next coach:
    Broncos
    Browns
    Raiders
  • wildcats20
I still don't know what the hell Sparano is thinking. Miami basically fired him, threw everything at Harbaugh, and when he said no, they came back to him like nothing had happened. If I'm him, I get the hell out of there.
  • OQB
haha, maybe because nobody would hire him as a head coach...
  • wildcats20
I guess. But it's pretty obvious that his own team didn't want him lol

He probably doesnt care. He knows he sucks and is being given a second chance (or basically more money) because Harbaugh turned them down. He honestly probably doesnt care that they dont want him. He has a job, and it they want to fire him, he will make bank as an unemployed citizen.
