Refs Blew It!....So Did Falcons
-
Ironman92Refs gave Saints a 1 yard extra on a 2nd down play wiht just 1:36 left in the game...gave them 3rd and 1 inch...should have been 3rd and a solid 1 yard.
BUT the Falcons blew it...fumbled on the 1 on 2nd down in the 1st half. Then, just like the Jets were 4th and 6 with 2 TO and just over 2:40 to play and punted from about their 40.......THEN the Saints get the ball and quickly get a 1st down with 2:05 on the clock......Falcons allow clock to go down to 2:00 warning which would've cost them a few seconds which could've very much mattered...had they not gotten the 1st down which was aided by the poor spot.
That play and spot was huge in the grand scheme of things....the offical upstairs has to signal down to replay that spot...too big of a situation in too big of a game for that spot to stand.
Again...the falcons have no one to blame but themselves...but the refs messed up late too. -
THE4RINGZSo they didn't cover?
-
Be NiceI saw the play. His knee was down and yes refs are ghey.
-
Hb31187Should I pull a Steelers fan and blame it on the refs?
Haha oh well, not a big loss. Just gotta beat the shitty Panthers next week and its home field throughout -
Skyhook79The spot wasn't reviewable besides the Saints gained 2 yds on the next play anyways.
Falcons should have never punted the ball back to the Saints. -
Pick6the knee was down and he was a yard short. who cares though, it wouldnt of mattered. he got the first down by a couple yards on the next play
-
jspitaleriSaid they couldn't review it because the spot did not result in a first down. That is dumb... either the spot is right or it isn't. The purpose of the review is to get calls correct. Oh well, I still think the Falcons get the #1 seed and win the NFC.

NonI'm usually more conservative but I would've gone for it there.
It was 4th and 6 right?
Matt Ryan is supposed to be one of the elite QBs. That's not that hard to pick up when you have a great QB.
And even if the Saints get the ball at midfield and add a FG it's 20-14 and you're still not totally out of it. -

Agreed, coaching mistake. I dont care how well the defense has played, thats Drew Brees running that offense as the defending super bowl champs. -
mhs95_06Very similar to the Jets game in Chicago as far the punt choice.

The above says the win probability going for it on 4th and 6 is 23% vs. 15% if they punt. -
Ironman92No one cares about percentages....just do what everyone has always done....even though it works less often.
Still wonder why the Falcons didn't call a TO after the first down with between 2:05-2:09 remaining.......had they stopped the Saints that was enough wasted time for one more play.
I don't understand how coaches can work 80+ hours a week on stuff and then not understand clock management to the fullest.
Falcons fumbling on the 1 yard line on 2nd down....yikes. They were jinxed twice by the announers....first they said Michael Turner had over 400 carries without afumble.,....and then said the Saints have given up points 90 straight times when opponent as on the 1.
At 11-4 the Saints are still at the mercy of the god awful Panthers beating the Falcons or they'll by the #5 seed......and maybe then will be the most favored #5 seed in the first round game ever.
