Orlando Magic....Nice Move!
-
Ironman92They are struggling so they trade for Hedo Turkoglu, Jason Richardson and Gilbert Areneas........they light it up tonight for 7/30 shooting.....as Orlando continues to lose....
Regulars had very good games...and Howard even went 26 pts and 23 rb...but they couldn't overcome the new guys. Old guys were 31/56
Nelson was 7/15 with 19 pts, Redick was 7/14 with 21 -
bigdaddy2003I'm going to give it a few more games before I cull the whole thing but as seen in the other thread I was against a few parts of the trade in the first place.
-
Ironman92Yeah...it's likely new to the team syndrome...but man
Hedo 2/11
Richardson 4/13
Gilbert 0/6
pretty much cost them one game so far -
Pick6good thing they play 82 games in a season..they've played one game. thats a little early to jump to conclusions, i think
-
osu45804This was their 2nd game with this new team ...... Next 2 games are vs. the Spurs & Celtics
-
MulvaI still don't get why any team would ever want to add Gilbert Arenas.

+1. Dude never seems to find his way on winning teams. Plus he seems to be a bit "off"and I haven't even brought up the nice contract he hasI still don't get why any team would ever want to add Gilbert Arenas. -
bigdaddy2003I could see adding him 4 years ago but now he comes with a huge contract and he may get hurt at any time.

Me either. -
Ironman92Jumping to conclusions?
Yeah.....my 2nd post definately goes that way.
Hedo will work well with Howard and Richardson is athletic enough to make it work...but Redick isn't going to go for 21 every night and Howard isn't going to go 26 and 23 every night....The Magic are now 16-12....not been killing it for a week or so. -
j_crazythis is penance for overpaying rashard lewis so egregiously.
-
JesterThe Magic will be fine, IMO. I don't know if people understand how long it takes for players to mesh together, especially the type of players the Magic brought in. Like someone on ESPN pointed out, nobody wants to "step on anybody else's toes". They'll slowly work it together as players find their role and get to know the other players better. I'd say they're not even done dealing yet anyways, as they'll most likely look to add another big man. Still a long ways to go in the season. I think they'll do pretty well.
-
bigdaddy2003I know it takes time for players to mesh and I kind of get why they thought they had to change up the team. Like I said before there are just a few things that stick out.
1. Arenas could go down at any time
2. Having Hedo back could work out to their advantage if he reverts back to playing the way he did two years ago.
3. Getting rid of Gortat may have been dumb. Who comes in when Howard gets into foul trouble or needs a rest? -

Pretty well is relative. And in this case relative is going to be compared to NBA and Eastern Conference finals the past 2 seasons. Don't think I see that happening. -
Ironman92MUCH better tonight...big offensive display and thrashing of the Spurs.
Howard had another big game....Redick was very very good again ( 18pts on just 8 shots) and the new guys got it done. Hedo...good, Richardson...good
Arenas....GREAT 17 pts 9ast 6 rb -
osu45804The only thing that worries me about Saturday's game is our injuries --- Dwight Howard has said that Kendrick Perkins gives him the most trouble out of anyone in the NBA -- Although we'll have Shaq & Jermaine O'Neal back so hopefully that evens out.. BUT w/o Rondo I could see Nelson having a nice game on Nate Robinson... Hopefully we can make it 15 straight.
-
hoops23Stop mentioning Jermaine O'Neal like he's a big piece or something.

I was going to write that. Well said. Jermaine O'Neal isn't a big piece these days. He once was but not anymore. -
Ironman92...a few games later and now they can't lose
Hedo has blended in well and contributed, Arenas has dished a good number and they do well when he's in.....Richardson has been nothing great
Dwight Howard will be vaulting back into MVP contention and JJ Redick is always in the game when Orlando is playing well. Redick avg 16 ppg with the new additions.
5 straight wins.....we'll see how the move finalizes...but it looks good now! -
bigdaddy2003The trade has been a success so far but the one place I fear it will bite them in the ass is Gortat. What happens in the playoffs when Dwight gets into foul trouble or needs rest? Anderson and Bass won't be able to contend with the big guys of the other contenders.
-
Midstate01they are getting the ball inside to howard regularly now..... even if they dont shoot well, just getting the ball inside more makes them a better team.

This. Unfortunately the game plan for any opponent will just be attack Howard.
I do like the pieces they acquired in the trade, and it means more shots for Redick which is fine by me. -
Ironman92Howard with a little more experience may be a little better of avoiding severe foul trouble. Hopefully each season he has learned.
