NFL power rankings - after 13 weeks

  1. New England 10-2 (1)...Pats emphatically claim the top spot after the Monday night massacre.
  2. Atlanta 10-2 (3)...Team to beat right now in the NFC.
  3. New Orleans 9-3 (5)...Might be the team to beat Atlanta.
  4. Pittsburgh 9-3 (6)...More resilient than great.
  5. Baltimore 8-4 (4)...They'll recover and still be a major factor in the AFC race.
  6. Green Bay 8-4 (7)
  7. N.Y. Jets 9-3 (2)...It will be interesting to see how they respond. I'm not sure.
  8. Chicago 9-3 (9)...Host the Patriots next week. Another chance to show they're for real.
  9. Philadelphia 8-4 (10)
  10. N.Y. Giants 8-4 (11)
  11. Kansas City 8-4 (12)

  Jacksonville should be higher, Seattle should be higher they are tied for the Division lead as bad as it is, Indy should be way lower, and how can the Bengals move up a spot when they have lost 9 in a row?? They should be #31 or #32

  I like Pitt and Baltimore more than New Orleans. Also like Philadelphia and the Giants more than the Jets. But looks solid.
  
  The last quarter of the season will be very telling for Chicago. Still not sure about them, but their schedule is brutal to finish up.
  
  I like Green Bay and Atlanta in the NFC much more than the others and the AFC playoffs are going to be absolutely brutal. Games in New England and Pittsburgh will be nasty!

  They do when their division and the two divisions that all the teams in their division play happen to possess six of the seven teams in these rankings.
  
  Of the top seven teams here, two (Pittsburgh, Baltimore) are in the same division as Cleveland; two (NE, Jets) are in the AFC East which all AFC North teams will play; and two (Atlanta, New Orleans) are in the NFC whatever which all AFC North teams also play.
  
  The only difference between Cleveland's schedule and any other AFC North team this year are the two games against teams from other division which placed the same as Cleveland. One of those (Kansas City) is a worst-to-first story, which is bad luck. The other is Jacksonville, who also is a worst-to-first story, which also is bad luck. Rough schedule, but for the most part, every AFC North team has it. Just a matter of being alloted to play every team in two divisions with some very good teams, as opposed to getting, say, the NFC West.

  Where did I say anything about the other aft north teams? That was capon....all I said was it sucks to be a not veryngood team and have that brutal schedule.

  For the Steelers, it's Tennessee and not Carolina. Cleveland just played Carolina the week before this most recent one. And, if you want to be technical, it's four different games, as Cleveland has two games against Pittsburgh (9-3, which raises the schedule strength), while Pittsburgh has two against Cleveland (5-7, which is an eight-game difference when you consider they play each other twice).

  My fault about Tennessee. But the rest of your statement makes no sense. You have to play your division twice and the schedule is based on last years records.

  Yes, but when you take two teams in one division, they technically have four different games. The two between teams in their place from other divisions and the two against each other. For Cleveland, it adds to their overall brutal schedule, as they have two games against a (currently) 9-3 team in Pittsburgh. For Pittsburgh, it makes theirs look a bit weaker because they have two games against a (currently) 5-7 team in Cleveland.
  
  A lot of time, weaker teams in a division wind up with tougher schedules than the better teams simply because of their two games against those better teams. I wouldn't be surprised if Cincinnati currently was graded as playing the toughest schedule in the NFL because they play New England, Jets, Miami Atlanta, New Orleans and Tampa (all .500 or better) just like all the other AFC North teams and their two different out-of-division games are against .500 teams...but while the other three AFC North teams have two games with their 2-10 team, Cincinnati doesn't. Yeah, Cleveland has the out-of-division edge (15-9 compared to 12-12), but Cleveland has two games against Cincy (4-20 if you count them twice) and Cincy has two against Cleveland (10-14 if you count them twice).

  Would love to see AFC grudge-matches of the games we saw the last 2 nights. Jets-Pats and Ravens-Steelers.
  
  In the NFC, there is the potential for slobberknockers with any combination of Giants, Eagles, Bears, and Packers. Throw in Falcons-Saints and those playoffs will be great too.

  Dont know about the NFC but it is very possible to see Jets-Pats and Ravens-Steelers meet again.

  Not trying to argue with you but Cincy should have the toughest schedule being they won the division last season. The schedule makers have no idea that a team is going to suck like Cincy has.
