Is Hines Ward gonna retire at the end of the year

  • gerb131
He hasn't been very good this year. Has 8 games with under 60 yards and only 4 td's and he doesn't look the same could be from that concussion or the fact the man is 48yrs old. Wouldn't hurt my feelings make me actually pretty happy.

He said if he wins a third Super Bowl he will retire.

So this will be his last year!

I think he plays at least one more year.

Dont get me wrong, Hines is one of my alltime favorite players but he will retire the day after they sign #11 from Arizona in the offseason.

Is there any talk/rumors about that happening? I haven't heard anything except for what was posted on here.

Again... I'd be ECSTATIC if they got Fitz....one of my favorite players in the game.

They would have to trade for Fitzgerald after this season because he's not a free agent until after the 2011 season.

But I think they should do it.

Package some draft picks in the next couple years. Arizona can get enough to rebuild which they need to do and the Steelers get Fitz for the second half of his career.

I read an article last week where he said he's not happy in Arizona because of the qb mess. When asked where he would like to go he prefers Pittsburgh, Kansas City or Minnesota. Looking at those 3 teams, I know where I'd go. just saying.
Like Non said, it would have to be a trade but I wouldn't mind giving up our #1 pick(32nd overall) to bring him in. Could you imagine Fitz,Wallace,Sanders and Brown.

Hines will no doubt retire a Steeler.

I would do it in a heartbeat.

Even for the No. 1 pick.

Fitz would be like a Ward or Bettis for the Steelers. Good fit in every way. Fan favorite. Good in the community. Leader on the field. Winner.

And with their defense getting older, maybe that's not quite the strength it has been but then the passing game becomes a greater strength with Ben, Wallace and Fitz. They would still be a playoff team.

I believe the reason he mentioned KC is because their HC was his OC in Arizona. The reason for Minnesota is his Dad was employed by the Vikings in some form while he was a kid. He used to be one of their ballboys.

KC would definitely be a strong possibility.

Minnesota would be except they'll have a QB question mark. I don't know if he'll want to leave a situation like that for another similar situation.

Pittsburgh has a two time Super Bowl winning QB, in the prime of his career. Great spot for Fitz to come in and put up big numbers and be on a contending team.

Arizona would be wise to trade him and get the draft picks to rebuild rather than letting him leave for nothing after 2011.

I don't know. I'll worry about it when the season is over.

I selfishly hope not. Hines is one of my favorite players.

He'll finish it all up after next season.

    Fitzgerald and Wallace......nice!
