NFL power rankings - after 11 weeks

  • Non

    1. New England 8-2 (1)
    2. N.Y. Jets 8-2 (2)
    3. Atlanta 8-2 (3)
    4. Green Bay 7-3 (4)
    ...No change at the top.

    5. Philadelphia 7-3 (6)...Baltimore really hasn't done anything to drop but I think the Eagles have had some more impressive wins of late.
    6. Baltimore 7-3 (5)
    7. New Orleans 7-3 (9)...Talk about under the radar. I don't even think I've seen a highlight from the Saints games the past couple weeks. But they'll head to Dallas on Thanksgiving.
    8. Pittsburgh 7-3 (10)
    9. Indianapolis 6-4 (7)
    10. N.Y. Giants 6-4 (8)
    11. Kansas City 6-4 (15)
    12. San Diego 5-5 (17)...If the Chargers beat the Colts, watch out. That's an important game for them to either keep rolling or for the Colts to halt their momentum.
    13. Tampa Bay 7-3 (14)
    14. Chicago 7-3 (16)
    15. Jacksonville 6-4 (19)

    16. Oakland 5-5 (11)
    17. Washington 5-5 (22)
    18. Miami 5-5 (12)
    19. Tennessee 5-5 (13)...Heading in the wrong direction.
    20. Cleveland 3-7 (18)
    21. Houston 4-6 (20)
    22. Seattle 5-5 (21)

    23. Dallas 3-7 (28)
    24. Minnesota 3-7 (23)
    25. St. Louis 4-6 (24)
    26. San Francisco 3-7 (25)
    27. Denver 3-7 (27)
    28. Arizona 3-7 (29)
    29. Buffalo 2-8 (31)
    30. Cincinnati 2-8 (26)
    31. Detroit 2-8 (30)
    32. Carolina 1-9 (32)

Non I agree about the Chargers. The last 3 years they have finished the season 11-0, 6-0, 4-0 and they are currently 3-0 with 6 games left. It's amazing what that team has done the past few years at the end of the regular season its too bad they can never do anything in the playoffs.

I don't really have any objections to your rankings they look pretty solid to me.

    Ravens at 6? Damn.

A win is a win, but I would drop the Jets after the last two weeks. Just looked fairly average.

The Jets vs Patriots MNF game in 2 weeks is going to be a good one. Both will likely enter at 9-2 and the winner will be in the driver seat for the #1 seed.

Luckily style points mean nothing in the NFL.

The Bengals are going to pull a W out against the Jets on Thursday so they will enter at 8-3.

They don't in divisional standings, but in power rankings, they should. It's the only reason why San Diego is above two 7-3 teams.

I agree with you, that the players and staff of the Jets don't care about how they win, as long as they win. But I think at this point the Packers and Falcons look more impressive.

Maybe, but highly unlikely. The Jets completely owned the Bengals on two occasions last year and the Bengals are much worse this year. Sanchez should have another big day with the Bengals secondary injuries.

I'm only going on the premise that the NFL is crazy. Lol I don't have any facts to back up my argument. I didn't even know Cincy had injuries in the secondary.

The Eagles would be like one one hundredth of a point ahead of the Ravens. It's close.

They lost 2 CBs and 1 safety in the 2nd quarter. I know for sure that one of the CBs is out for the Jets, not sure of the others.

I took some time and added up the wins of teams each team has beaten....Patriots are on top with 37, Eagles are next at 36 and Steelers at 35 are 3rd.......the 7-3 Buccaneers sit at #21 at 17 total.....AND the Bucs, Bills, Lions and Panthers I think have not defeated a 5 or more win team.

Jets opponents have won 30 games, where does that put them?
  • Ironman92
I think there were 5 or 6 teams at 30 or more...it was interesting.

Broncos all 3 wins versus 5+ win teams....really shows the cruddy divisions and schedules of some. The AFC South was interesting and all 4 teams were above the top NFC West teams.
  • Ironman92
I think the Pats and Steelers were the only 2 teams to have 5+ wins versus 5+ win teams

    Good research, iron man

The Jets get to beat NE and Miami again, as well as Pittsburgh and Chicago to get to 6 wins over 5+ win teams. This assuming Buffalo won't get to 5 wins by week 17. :)

well i'll make you a bet mr creator of chatter that the jets aren't in the super bowl this year

If I win, you ban capone if I lose I buy you skyline and you still ban capone

I agree to this bet. :)
  • justincredible
But I said nothing about the Super Bowl. I just insinuated a 14-2 regular season record.

    How about next weekend?

You'll have Sunday night Pittsburgh at Baltimore for first place in the AFC North.

and then Monday night Jets at Patriots for first place in the AFC East

Not sure why I took the time to figure this out, but the Jets can actually remain in first place even if they lose to the Pats. If the Jets beat the Bengals and the Lions beat the Pats the Jets would remain in 1st place even if they lose to the Pats. Head-to-head would be split and record within the division would be tied as each team would be 3-1. The 3rd tiebreaker is record within common games in which the Jets would hold a 6-1 to 5-2 advantage as the Jets would have only lost to the Ravens while the Pats would have lost to the Browns and Lions.

It's incredibly unlikely, of course. The Jets aren't losing to the Bengals or Pats. :)
  • Non
Yeah you never like to assume but I'll be really bold and say the Patriots beat the Lions.
  • justincredible
Yeah, the Lions have not won on Thanksgiving since 2003. Ah, what the hell. They're due, right? lol
