Blake Griffin???

  No thread on what he did last night? Goodness.
  
  The 1-13 Clippers are God-awful...but Griffin went for 44 pts, 15 rb and 7 assists....but he had 3 posterizing dunks and 2 of them were just back up the dvr and watch it about 7 times plays.
  
  Must see highlights for any normal sports fan.

  Dude can jump out of the gym and then he's thunderpunchin' it on fools. I'm a Knicks fan but his dunks were ridiculous. Loved it. He's a beast and I am feeling pretty good about drafting him on my fantasy hoops team before the season started.

  Impressive game no doubt, but you have to keep in mind the opponent (sorry killer). The Knicks just last week gave up 30/30 to Kevin Love...

  I didn't think the dunk over Mozgov was that impressive. Dude didn't even have his hands up, and Griffin didn't touch the rim. It was a Dwight Howard slam dunk contest dunk.
  
  The spin move was unbelievable though. He's a freak.

  Griffin and Gordon are arguably the best 1-2 YOUNG combo in the league. I stress the young aspect, as they are clearly not the best 1-2 combo. But if the Clippers can sign them both long term (not likely however), they will be on to something very, very special imo.

  Jennings and Bogut to a lesser degree if Bogut can stay healthy. Memphis has a ton of young talent as well, though not on the same level as the Bulls/Thunder.

  I tend to take the team with the best player in those situations, so the Thunder would have it. I just dont think we are close to seeing Gordon at his best yet, and obviously Griffin isnt anything like what he can be in 3-4 years. Gordon is averaging like 22 a game, and hasnt shot well at all from the outside, which is a real strength of his.

  I like Gordon, but I think you might be giving him too much credit. And he's certainly not better than Westbrook, at this point.

  I guess I havent made myself clear. I meant if they sign these two guys long term, they could be the best 1-2 combo because they are close to it now as far as young guys go.
  
  I am obviously biased as EJ is someone I know personally and well. But I definitely expect him to be a better player than Westbrook in 3 years, if not sooner. I guess you also have to look at what is better, because since Westbrook and Rose do more than score, they will always be more complete. But Gordon is going to be a top 10 scorer and can easily be a first team all defense type SG.

  As for long term, what makes you think Rose and Noah don't improve? It only takes one season for the Wizards to draft a second young player, and then maybe it's them. It's hard to say "long term" because things change year by year.
  
  And I don't see him ever being better than Westbrook. But that's my opinion.
  
  Obviously the Clippers have to be happy, but even though they are young, if they were that good they would be winning some games.

  I was at IU the same time as him and covered the basketball team for the IU radio station. He and DJ White were the only genuinely good people on the Kelvin Sampson team that year. It was a joke of a program, but EJ was always very kind and hung out with some of us outside of basketball because he knew us better than anyone at IU other than his teammates who he hated. Just a really humble guy who hates attention and to a fault looks to pass to much. I LOVE Russell Westbrook, but I have seen what EJ can do on a basketball court for 4/5 days a week for a year. It is up to him if he ever shows it in the NBA.
  
  As for Noah and Rose improving, I think Rose will, but he has done it earlier than EJ, he will still improve, but the potential is starting to be realized earlier than Gordons. Noah is a true 4th year player. Where EJ would still be in college right now without the early entrants.
  
  But you are right about the future. It is impossible to predict. As you said Wall could join the fold with another. The FA market often dictates stuff. Maybe Ill just stick to the present and say I think they are the 3rd best young combo in the league behind the Thunder and Bulls

  As for him showing it 4/5 days a week. No one cares what you do in practice, you have to do it in the games. Again, I really like Gordon, but I do think you might be giving him too much credit. I'd argue that Westbrook is a top 5 PG right now. And Gordon is playing on the worst team in the NBA. It's one thing to average 23 for the worst team in the NBA, it's another to play on a team that has championship aspirations.

  I agree with that. Ill be the first to admit my personal bias is probably taking over even if I am trying not to let it. I think Westy is a close to top 5. Probably would rank 6th for me actually.

  You are right about practice. And it is actually the biggest knock I had on him, was his incredible drive and work ethic in practice (ie, scoring at will and taking over drills etc) and then in the games he deffered to Dj White, Jamarcus Ellis, Armon Bassett and at times Jordan Crawford. There was no need for it at any point. I always though DJ should get a touch every time down the court and EJ should be getting close to 20 shots a game for that team to live up to its potential. It just never happened because EJ was too passive in the games. Thats why I said its up to him to show his ability in the NBA. The thunderous dunks he has put down this year are a great start to him realizing he is explosive enough and good enough to take over games at this level. It has taken him much longer to realize this than others listed on this thread...which is one reason I think he can improve more than others still.
