Candidates for the Browns first pick in 2010....

SQ_CraziesIMO neither one is in the top 5 in this class as far as passing ability, but how am I supposed to believe that when I see how terrible Locker's teams did in the PAC-10 as opposed to Tebow's in the SEC? Neither will be a great passer at the next level, nor a great QB. If you ask me, I'd take Tebow over Locker for sure and I really can't understand how Locker could be a first round pick. Great athlete, not a great NFL QB. Tony Pike is a better prospect than both of them IMO.
-
hoops23I agree with Tony Pike.
However, you surround Locker with the talent Tebow has had and he'd have the same exact numbers... Actually, he'd have better passing numbers. -
SQ_CraziesGive me another arm and I could get more shit done too. That's a pretty big assumption. Either way, regardless of which side of this argument you're on, if someone drafts him in the first round they will have wasted a first round pick.
Colt McCoy is a better passer than either one of them, and somehow his name hasn't been mentioned in the posts where people said Locker.
The Browns should not draft a QB anyways. -
hoops23Colt McCoy shouldn't be mentioned. The Big 12 is a system conference.
I'm not a fan of any of the QB's in this draft. In fact, I'd be content on drafting defense with the first few picks..
I'd like to see us add one play making receiver in FA to go along with Massaquoi and Robiskie. -
SQ_CraziesNo doubt, if it were me I'd take defense with all 11 picks assuming there wasn't anyone there from the other side of the ball that shouldn't be available.
But you can't honestly tell me that you think Tebow and Locker are better QB prospects than McCoy. A system conference, lol, every QB plays in a system. Can't say I've ever heard of a whole conference using a "system". You don't think Tebow's numbers are inflated by the system? You don't think they design "systems" for QB's in the NFL? -
Laley23Locker will be the best QB of the bunch because the starting NFL QBs these days come from non traditional colleges. Granted they arent necessarily the best, but a lot of them are very good to solid.
Big Ben
Freeman
McNabb
Warner
Hasselbeck
Romo
E. Manning
Favre
Rodgers
Cutler
Brees
Ryan
Delhomme
Smith
Fitzpatrick
Bulger
Flacco
Schaub
Garrard
Rivers
Orton
Gradkowski
The guys who went to traditional colleges, and the jury is out on most. But Brady and Manning are the best.
Stafford
Brady
Palmer
Sanchez
Quinn
Henne
Young
P. Manning
Personally, I would stay away from guys from Texas, Oklahoma, ND, Florida, etc. Just seems like guys who have a ton of talent around them in college arent as well prepared for the NFL. -
hoops23Eric Berry
-
SQ_CraziesNo doubt in my mind that Eric Berry is the best prospect in the draft--the most ready too.

The Big 12 is a "system" conference because almost every team is using a version of the spread...SQ_Crazies wrote: No doubt, if it were me I'd take defense with all 11 picks assuming there wasn't anyone there from the other side of the ball that shouldn't be available.

No Big 12 QB is really tearing it up in the NFL, aside from VY right now.. VY was just a freak though...
And yes, I think Locker would/will be a better pro than McCoy. -
hoops23
We definitely agree on that.SQ_Crazies wrote: No doubt in my mind that Eric Berry is the best prospect in the draft--the most ready too.
I'd pick him just for the attitude he brings to the table.. The dude is relentless when he goes in for the kill.. -
SQ_Crazies
We'll see about that, I think you'll be wrong. McCoy just has that "it" thing, he's accurate, he's smart and he's calm.LTrain23 wrote:

jpake1I'm not really impressed with any QB's that can be in the draft, well, enough to take them top 10. I'd take Clausen if he came out before any other QB. He has the best overall arm, but still a lot of questions about him like leadership and ability to win. Tebow has many questions about him such as accuracy and being behind center. Bradford now has a lot of questions about health. McCoy has questions about arm strength and being under center. A lot of great college QB's will be in the draft, but do any of them look like future NFL greats? I don't see it. Clausen has the tools, but I question his mentality.

LocoEngineer66Tony Pike ... but not in the first round.
First round needs to be defense, defense, defense, defense, defense, defense ... lol -

Spikes is projected there but I'll be highly surprised if he ends up in the first round.devil1197 wrote: Spikes is a projected middle-late 1st rounder. Unless he either falls like Maualuga or Cleveland gets another 1st rounder, it will be hard for the Browns to land both players.
The Carter kid from UNC is going to blow the combine up. Then you have guys like McClain, Kindle, and Bowman who will all go ahead of Spikes. Figure in all the other defensive players who are sure fire first rounders (Berry, Mays, Hardy, McCoy, Dunlap, Suh, Haden, etc.) and you can see why I'm thinking Spikes will slip. -
Cha'DIchOverall, offense is a bigger need than defense. The defense has not played too bad this season. The problem is due to the inept offense, the defense is on the field far too long, and by the end of games and by the end of the season the defense gets tired and exposed allowing teams to put up big numbers against them.
The Browns have no legitimate wide receiver, Robert Royal is a below-average tight end, with Jamal Lewis retiring Cleveland needs a running back and the right side of the offensive line needs a lot of work.
As bad as the offense was at the end of last year, it is even worse this year.
Having said all of that, the Browns' biggest need is head coach. -
hotrods300I don't believe the Browns need a QB yet, the knock on Quinn was that he couldn't throw the deep ball. I think he prooved that to be wrong in the Lions game where he threw the ball deep and often and did pretty well (I know it was the Lions, But....). Even Payton Manning couldn't play behind this O-line, so I think we start our rebuilding with the front line, and somewhere in the mix we need a RB.
-
RiverRat13How is the Browns O-line so bad? You guys have the best left tackle in the game, a rare 1st rounder at center and a big time free agent at left guard. Is it the right side that is so bad or have Mack/Steinback also underachieved? The Browns have a decent amount invested in their O-line (high draft picks, $$$). Is it the coaching or what?

I have 1 name for you...St. Clair!! This guy is awful on the right side of the O-line. -
thedynasty1998I don't know why everyone is demanding a defensive player either. The defense hasn't been that bad at times this year. And they are on the field the entire games.
I think they need offense, and offense alone. They are so bad offensively. They need a RB, TE, RT and a bunch of receivers (that's not mentioning a QB). They should be able to pick up a lot of pieces in this draft if they draft wisely. -
jpake1They do need offense. But who is worth such a high pick on offense? There really isn't anybody worthy of top 5.
-
thedynasty1998I agree that their first pick (possibly the #1) needs to go to the best player available. I don't care who it is or what side of the ball. The Browns have so few pieces in place that they could devote their entire draft to "best player available".

It's the right side. Thomas is a beast, Stein and Mack are both solid (but not spectacular), but the Browns are abysmal at RG and RT.RiverRat13 wrote: How is the Browns O-line so bad? Not having a capable QB, RB, or receiver makes them look worse than they are sometimes I think, but they still need to be replaced desperately. -
BCSbunkSuh or Okung. The Browns need line help still on both sides of the ball.
It depends on where they fall in the draft. Football is won on the lines of scrimmage and the Browns are weak on the right side of the line and on the defensive line.
Suh with Rogers would wreck havoc on opposing offense's creating synergy by making their lb's and secondary not have to work as hard.
I would lean towards Okung put him on the right side and shore up that offensive line. -
Bluepride13Suh...All day! We have so many holes on this team that we have to take the best player available. Thats Suh imo. If not Suh then Berry. This team wont be fixed in one year. I agree the right side HAS to be fixed along with a TE.

CofCBrugs87With the injury to Brodney you have to think that Berry is now on the top of the list. I hate the idea of taking a 3-4 DE, yes i know they are crucial for us but i want to draft a game changer and any 3-4 DE doesnt do it for me. Ill take the ball-hawk ed Reed type of player every day of the week. And if not him give me Dez Bryant. We obviously need a #1 WR.
