Cleveland Indians off season

Do you see any big names get any offers? Or will we see the cheap coming off injury or at the end of their career pick ups?

Unfortunately, I don't see them bringing any top level players. They will try some project, or injury, or someone that no one else wants.

It's a shame too. I still remember every year Cleveland use to go after almost every big name every year. What a joke dolan has turned this once proud organization into

I remember that, and I also remember the tribe before Jacobs and the 90's. This reminds of the tribe teams back then. A large part of the problem is making big mistakes in who to spend money on. They gave the big extension to Hafner instead of Sabathia. While I think Sizemore will be a solid MLB player for years to come, I don't think he will become the superstar that they thought he could become. In the Lee trade, they could have held out to get more in return.

What I see over the last few years, which is a complete shame, is Carlos Santana and Michael Brantley for Lee, Sabathia, and Blake.

I am sure we will get in a couple cheap, old, retreads to get super excited about.....

Cleveland still has an MLB team?

If we even sign any free agents to major league deals they will be like Redmond was last year, someone to come in and play backup to the young guys. The prospects are who the team is going to be pushing all off-season to try to generate excitement.

The team will take a flyer on some rehabbed old veteran...or pick up a veteran with depressed value who has a chance of doing well so that they can trade them for some prospects mid summer (read Austin Kearns.) The team will try to win with the young guys and hope they develop enough to compete in the playoffs.....before they have to pay anybody and then break the team up for a bunch of prospects. Ownership tipped its intentions for all to see in the Cliff Lee salary dump...a move that made no 'baseball' sense, and signalled to the fan base that ownership valued the bottom line more than the ability to compete.

Well a little bit of good news today. South Korea won gold at the Asia games which mostly likely means that the members of the team will receive a military exemption. This had been a worry for the Tribe and Choo for a few years but hopefully now it'll be all sorted out and he'll be good to go.
