Game 5: Phillies at Giants
-
Ironman92I'm glad Burrell got to 2nd on that cause I couldn't take it watching him frun from 1st to home on one play.
Man I bet every Phillie fan thinks Cody Ross is a fucker. -
Tiger2003You can't make a more perfect throw then that. He is going to get some big money next year from some team.

Ironman92Hell of a throw by the Reds next year LF
I don't really call that a mistake by Ross....took a perfect throw to get him by 2 inches and they would've just walked until Lincecum was batting. -
Ironman92Starting pitchers at 66 and 67 pitches after 4 innings
-
Ironman92passed ball
wild pitch
error on fielder
infield hit
balk
Not greatly usual...but these things happen......which ismore likely to happen...one of those or Lincecum getting an RBI off of Halladay?
I don't know but McCarver is a little too harping on that play by Ross....the same guy who has been Babe Ruth this series for the Giants....I would totally agree if they were at the top or middle of the lineup. -

Yes, but isn't that breaking a cardinal rule to make the 3rd out at 3rd? It isn't worth the risk as you usually need a hit to score from 3rd with 2 out, and a 2 out hit usually scores a runner from 2nd anyway. But did you see how Polanco takes advantage of the Ross head first slide by blocking his lead hand with his foot?Ironman92;528064 wrote:Hell of a throw by the Reds next year LF

Regardless......both teams will have numerous opportunities to take this game....gotta take advantage as much as you can.
My point was that if everyone executes the play properly it is an inning ending double play with the run scoring. -
Tiger2003Well defense for the Phillies sure extended this inning. A bloop hit there now makes runners at the corners and Phillies should be out of this

Ironman92and who is going to get that hit? Uribe is getting walked...plain and simple....Lincecum going to drive in the run?
I'm well aware of the cardinal rule....but a wild pitch or passed ball is just about as likely than Lincecum knocking in that run...pitcher not up....yes it's not worth the risk -

How would the run scored of it was done by the tag then the 3rd out at first?

Ironman92Understandaby under these circumstances....but Roy Halladay is quite Chris Carpenterie tonight.

I'm saying with the runner stopping like he did, the only option to get the DP, which was the best option after Sanchez made the right play to stop, was to get the 2nd out of the inning at first which would have left Sanchez in a hot box and the other runner crossing the plate. The out in the hot box would have come after the runner crossed the plate, thus the run counts. -

No that's not the best option. The best option would have tagged him and flipped it to first because you had Posey running!

Tiger2003Well Halladay gets thru 6! Looks like his night will be done already throwing 100+ pitches.
Can the bullpen lock down the win and can Philly tack on atleast 1 more run for insurance.

Tiger2003J-Roll not being able to run really handicaps the Philly offense.

Ironman92McCarver is really irritating me tonight. Really.

Tiger2003Well J-Roll goes and makes it. Now we need a single for a run.

But if he stays at 2nd and they walk Uribe and get Lincecum, at least you turn the line-up over. This would have been key as the next inning the 1 and 2 batters both reached which would have been two on and no out which is much more promising than what it was with Uribe and Lincecum making two outs before they got on. -
Tiger2003Wow Rollins takes 3rd with no throw.
