If the browns could only change one thing??

THE4RINGZIf the browns could only change one thing what would you chose to make them a better team?
Ownership
Front Office
Coaching staff
On field talent
You can only pick one think both short and long term.
I don't know how to do a poll so this is discussion only. -
SportsAndLadyWell for long term, if we were only able to change one of those things, we'd be in last place every year...so this is kinda dumb for long term.
For short term, I'd say coaching. Because the effort from the players are there; the offensive play calls and time management are holding this team back from a mediocre season. -
Art ModellMove to Pittsburgh.jk
Whoever is responsible for their lousy drafts over the last 10 years. -
wes_mantoothThe drafting is the main problem.....so I guess the Front Office/GM
-
I Wear PantsFront Office. Since that can influence both the drafting travesty that has been Cleveland as well as the coaching.
As a Steeler fan I want the Browns to get better because I want the rivalry to actually mean something again. -
Commander of AwesomeThe 2008 draft, or lack of one. That was fucking stupid; which goes back to the Brady Quinn trade in 2007.
Or the 2006 draft trade with the Ravens, thats was fucking idiotic. Would you rather have Vickers or Ngata? Idiot Savage. -
OneBuckeyeRight now its lack of talent mixed with dbag coaching. I would get rid of Daboll and Mangina right now. Mangina doesn't even do anything he just scowles all game. And makes empty threats afterwards. Everytime after a bad play the camera is on him and he is saying WTF was that. Joe Pa does more coaching than this guy.

like_thatTough question to answer so I will cheat and rank them.
1. Talent: The talent on this team is a joke. There are only about 5 guys that I would be happy to keep. The Browns are just a bunch of #2s playing against starters.
2. Coaching Staff: Joke
3. Ownership: Randy really pissed me off when he hired womangini when he had plenty of time to evaluate many coaches. I also wish he would focus solely on the browns and not worry about Aston Villa. With that being said, he isn't a Dolan, and doesn't hold back from spending money.
I don't think front office should be ranked, since we pretty much have a brand new front office. -
BR1986FBOwnership...that's what screwed the organization since the return. You let Modell's accomplice (Lerner) have the team and things went to hell in a handbasket from there.
-
thedynasty1998Hopefully they have a better front office with Holmgren, although I question that because of this past year's draft (I know it's still unproven) and because he let Mangini stick around for another year.
Other than that, it has to be young talent. They just lack the overall talent and that's due to the draft. It will always be hard to get free agents to come to Cleveland, so they have to improve through the draft and trades. To Mangini's credit, I think the team plays hard, but you have to question the scheme and play calling at times.
I would say they have to get worse before getting better, but that's nearly impossible. They just have such an old roster that they need to take a few years to build through the draft and obviously get their QB of the future eventually (has to be this year's draft). -
IggyPride00The QB position just haunts this team. Until it is solved nothing else matters, as you don't win in the NFL today without at least above average quarterbacking.
That 2009 draft will go down as one of the epic failures of all time from the Browns standpoint.
We traded a franchise quarterback (Sanchez is starting to really come into his own and above all is a leader) for a bunch of spare parts. You just can't do that. To make matters worse of the 3 second round picks, 1 has already been cut, 1 is a complete bust, and the other is at best serviceable (Momass). You can't whiff on 3 second round picks in the same draft when your franchise is devoid of talent. It just can't happen.
Competent quarterback play would make alot of the team's deficiencies look better, and until we get it it does not matter who the coach or GM is as this team will go no where. -

Aren't Robo and MMass both starting? -

Who'd know? They never catch any balls. Seems like it's Cribbs, Moore, Watson or a RB. -

Doesn't mean they are good.
Good post Iggy, as I was really upset when the Brown passed on Sanchez. I thought at that point it was clear Quinn wasn't going to work out and they pass on a franchise QB to get a couple more draft picks and a center. Just mind boggling when you look back at it. -
BR1986FBThe thing that pissed me off about the Sanchez trade was that Mangini got fleeced. At a minimum he should have gotten another 2nd rounder out of it so he could have drafted an undersized DE to turn into another OLB "project' from Cal Poly, East Texas State or some other juggernaut.

Or perhaps Pierre Garcon from Mt. Union. I agree with those above...the Browns drafting sux balz. -

You probably weren't as upset as I was when the Browns passed on Roethlisberger years ago.thedynasty1998;500034 wrote:Doesn't mean they are good.
