"The decision to go with Vick over Kolb is a permanent move and is not concussion related, a source told ESPN NFL analyst Chris Mortensen."

I really think this makes the Eagles a real factor in the NFC East, I never thought Kolb was going to be a good starting QB.

If Vick sucks though, boy did Philly screw the pooch on this one. All summer you hear about them trading away McNabb because Kolb is the QB of the future, and then one half of bad football sidelines him for the season? Interesting choices, Andy Reid.

Which is why i thought this move would NEVER happen. I honestly think I pooped myself a bit in reading this

Holy crap.. so they decided to put the better qb out there? Why the hell do people care who makes more than who? "Oh this guy should play he makes 5 million!" How about "This guy should play, he is playing extremely well.. too good to bench"

It doesn't matter about investments and pay.. if this was the case, the Browns would still be starting Brady Quinn, better yet Tim Couch. Not saying kolb is a bust, but im saying you are allowed to go with the guy who is playing better.

Wow, Andy Reid after sticking with McNabb for over a decade, gives up on Kolb after less than one game? What does that tell people about the so called QB of the future for the Eagles?
  • rydawg5
Gives up? He can't help it that Vick is playing like a top 5 qb in the league. Putting Kolb on hold is not giving up. Aaron Rodgers sat on the bench forever, this is a business to win games.

vick has been unreal right now why the fuck would you bench him?

Yeah, but he got rid of McNabb for Kolb and called him the QB of the future. Benching him for someone who spent time in jail and hasn't been a QB for years can't be good for Kolb or the Eagles future.

Who cares? You can't live in the past.

The play where the defender came unblocked and coming full go at a blindsided Vick....and then at the last moment he spins Taz quick and speeds around the corner for a 1st down......simply put...no one else can do that....mixed with his touch and power of his throw.....

I know he has to watch his every step and word......but how he responded to the media about Kolb being the starter and believing in him and his abiltiy and beign his team...total class in how he handled it

I don't see how anyone in their right mind could not start Vick next week after his play thus far........scares the begeezus out of defenses

I've read alot of the decision was based on the fact their O-line is a complete disaster. Vick was sacked 6 times last week and 9 already this season in a game and a half, and he is about as mobile a QB as there is in the league.

They can't protect the quarterback, and under those circumstances Vick's mobility gives the team a better chance to win. Kolb was sacked 3 times in the first quarter and a half, and this move tells me Andy Reid doesn't see that getting any better as far as O-line protection.

Unless Vick leads them to a big playoff run this year, they are going to let him walk as they aren't going to give up on Kolb given the money they paid him and all they have invested in him.

In the short run though, when you have an o-line that has given up 12 sacks in 2 games you have to go with the mobile quarterback as he gives you the best chance to win. You can rebuild the line in the off-season and figure out how to get Kolb's confidence back, but letting him sit back there and get sacked 70 times this year would be a nightmare for the franchise as history has shown those kind of seasons do long term damage to QB's careers. Kolb already has one concussion this season, and knowing he is a sitting duck back there chances are it wouldn't be the last.

Any way you look at it this is a nightmare for the Eagles considering they trade McNabb to start the Kolb era and it lasts all of 2 quarters. Andy Reid is pinned in the corner with no real good options.
