  the article kind of had a message (a dumb one, but a racially charged message nonetheless) up until about the 3/4th mark where it turned into a "leave lebron alone" type of thing. i disagree with the author and counter with peyton manning. say peyton manning had never won a title and then decided to announce his decision to leave indianapolis on a television show? would white people (outside of white fans of the team he joined) not hate him? i guess the point being is if you do something so narcissistic, egotistical and stupid that just destroys a legion/region of people, you deserve to be hated regardless of race

  So essentially she is stereotyping about white people in Ohio........... I really wish someone would absolutely flip out on her on national televisions because some people take offense to be labeled a racist.

  She was essentially saying that only white people set fire to his jersey and that black people had to come to his rescue. lol what a crock of shit. She then went on to argue about the top 6 most hated athletes were black and how that is racism.

  I got his point about 2 paragraphs in and agreed with it. The black community will support its black heroes. We got it, after that it turned into a whine fest, IMO. There isnt a pro sport out there I follow with passion enough to create a super star in my eyes. I have been turned off by pro sports since the early 90's when a shift in the we to me took a huge hold on the pro sports world. I have not, will not pay a penny to a pro franchise through merchandise or tickets. I will watch from time to time, but follow no one team fervently.

  Here's what this guy fails to understand and consider about the situation, for whatever reason. Ohio is different from a lot of states when it comes to sports. The success of our professional organizations are few and far between. The Reds/Indians and Bengals/Browns consistently suck. Not only do they miss the playoffs, they usually don't even come close. (Obviously there are exceptions: The Reds this year, the Bengals last year, the Browns several years ago)...Before Lebron joined the Cavs, they were apart of this misery. And honestly, even having Lebron here was a tease, to an extent. They were fun to watch, and won a lot, but they always, always, always underachieved in the playoffs. The one bright spot of Ohio are the Buckeyes, who in the past decade have won a national title, but they've lost it twice and some other bowl games. They consistently start and finish the season in the top 10, but until beating Oregon last year, had developed a reputation for failing in big games.
  
  So with all that said, Lebron was like a diamond in the rough here. He gave a state (and a city especially) that was haunted by sports failures of the past a new hope. For years, we had to hear how everyone was gearing up for the Summer of 2010. The Nets, the Knicks, the Clippers, etc...all preparing to make their move. I think by the end of it all, the safe money was that he was going to leave. With how things were unfolding, people who were really confident that he'd stay were starting to lose hope.
  
  Here's the bottom line: If Lebron would have stayed, If the decision would have went something like, "I'm staying in Cleveland, I made a commitment to this city, this state, that I would win a championship and that's what I'm going to do." -- He would have been fucking loved by everyone. Not only in Ohio, but sportswriters and commentaries across the country would sing his praise, saying how good of a guy he is, commemorating him for not taking the easy way out. It was a decision that people would either overwhelmingly love him or hate him for, and he decided to be hated.
  
  So now Ohio goes back to it's old existence. People think the Cavs still have a playoff-caliber team, which I don't personally believe but oh well. The city of Cleveland will watch the Indians finish last in their division, meanwhile the Browns are off to an 0-2 start and don't show much hope. There's always the Buckeyes, or the teams in Cincy who have some more promise.
  It sounds a little dramatic, but that night I'm sure a lot of people across Ohio felt like they just got dumped by their girlfriend (or boyfriend). It was eerily similar to your better half saying, 'Hey we've had a lot of great years, but you're just not cutting it for me, and now I'm going to dump you and go to something more promising'.....and they do it on national television, none the less.
  
  His article was full of failed logic. A barbershop 700 miles away from Cleveland doesn't have the same type of anger (was that suppose to surprise us??)...Roethlisberger isn't hated like Lebron is. Roethlisberger doesn't mean half as much to the NFL or professional sports as Lebron does. It's like comparing apples to oranges. Professional athletes make the same mistakes like Big Ben did all the time; they're a dime a dozen, whether it's DWI, assault, murder, domestic abuse, cheating with steroids, etc. Big Ben drug his team through the mud for several months and is now serving his four-game suspension (meanwhile the team continues to win so who cares)...in three weeks, he'll be back and it'll be like nothing ever happened. Where as in three weeks, the Cavs will start preseason ball without Lebron and that'll be a completely separate trainwreck.
  
  Lastly, professional writers need to stop bringing up slavery when it comes to sports. These guys think they're doing something favorable to the black community, but it sounds completely ridiculous and ignorant. How much black athletes are mistreated or mis-viewed is subjective, but it doesn't change how they make millions of dollars to do what they love, and that has nothing to do with slavery.

  Further more, I don't understand the fascination with 'Most hated athletes being black' drama. Most professional athletes (in football and basketball more so) are overwhelmingly black! It's not a conspiracy, it's called odds. If you survey the sports world on most hated teams, it's a safe bet that the Duke basketball team and then the Yankees/Red Sox are near the top...and those are teams that are primarily white.
