Jason LaRue Retiring After The Concussion From The Brawl
-
Fly4FunYou have to feel kind of bad about the situation until you remember that it happened during a fight. When a person willing engages in a fight he subjects himself to a certain amount of physical harm... and he paid the price for that risk.
Fighting in sports needs to be dealt with in a more serious manner. I like what the NBA and NFL has done with a zero tolerance policy. MLB and NHL need to follow suit.
Edit:
After reading the whole article I am more annoyed with how he places the blame solely on Cueto. If you jump into a massive brawl there's a chance you get hurt. Don't cry about how it's all someone else's fault. -
sportchamppsif you get in a fight sometimes u get your ass kicked. once a fight starts there are no rules. if he had a history of concussions then he shoulda been like 90% of players who r in a brawl and just ran out stayed toward the back of the circle and yelled stuff at the other guys

Midstate01Maybe he is retiring because he had 4 hits this year? This is total bs and completely unprofessional on his part. Typical cards way of doing things.
-
justincredibleI've seen slowmo replays and stills of the fight and before Cueto put a boot into LaRue's face LaRue had one of the most intensely crazy looks on his face I have ever seen and was gunning for Johnny. Maybe if you aren't trying to kill someone they won't kick you in the face? Or, maybe if your dumbass pitcher (Carpenter) doesn't escalate the fight when it was all but finished it wouldn't have happened. To come out and place the blame squarely on Cueto is a total bitch move.

Exactly. -

more like:"Does it suck that my career is over because Johnny Cueto started kicking me in the head? Yes, it sucks."
"Do I suck because Johnny Cueto started kicking me in the head? No, I sucked long before that. This is just a good opportunity to place the blame on someone else for my complete and utter lack of skill." -
karen lotzIf true Cueto should be hanged from St Louis Arch.

stroupsHis career has been over long before that kick........ The only thing that was going to save it was a Jake Taylor like miracle

justincredibleAlso,

Ironman92The guy was a good catcher for the Reds for a while and quiockly went to awful ( I blame eyesight failure) couldn't catch the ball or hit above .200.....moves on to other teams and all ove a sudden he's decent for a backup...well he was back to his sucking days for the Cards....if he was a player that contributed or the Cardinals wanted they would've beaned Reds player (s) in his defense....I mean when has LaRussa ever not retalliated?
LaRue lasted way longer than he should've.....he's done becasue he was done...not because of Cueto. -
dat dudeNo question Cueto acted like a bitch that day.

Even so he didn't end LaRue's career. Cueto was a bitch for about 10 seconds. The Cardinals have been bitches long before and will be long after. -
dat dudeEh, I don't know if anyone can say for certain that it did not end his career, especially if he is saying otherwise. And Cuerto's actions were indefensible, there was absolutely no reason to take it to the level he did. I don't follow the Reds or Cardinals, so I'm unaware of any cheap shots in the past that would equal anything Cueto did.
-
justincredibleCueto's kicks weren't premeditated. LaRue was coming after Cueto who had his back up against the wall. Cueto did what he did with essentially no time to think. And of course LaRue is going to say it was all on Cueto. That's the Cardinals and TLR's MO.

Ironman92Carpenter doesn't run his mouth after the initial escalation and this never happens...at least the fighting of Cueto....LaRue retiring was a matter of time and St Louis wasn't wanting to use him.
