Jon Gruden to the Browns in 2011?

  • Non
Spent a few years with Holmgren in Green Bay from 1992-94.

I think this is a possibility if they finish 6-10 or worse.

Please let this happen, pay him whatever he wants

What we should do is keep changing coaches. That is how you create continuity for sure. Granted I would be a fan of Gruden..Won't happen though.

Gruden is actually a good coach

This has been out there for quite awhile now. There was speculation that if Mangini was fired that Gruden would have been his replacement this year. My biggest fear about Gruden is that he's a piss poor judge of QB's. He thought Brady Quinn was good and I'm pretty sure he's sold on Colt McCoy as an NFL QB too.

^ Hopefully Heckertt and Holmgren could steer him in the right direction there.

Who the guys that thought he was worthy of a 3rd round pick?

Week one into the season, wow. Gruden shit the bed in TB, dismantled a great defense and never assembled the great offense he had in Oakland. His love for mediocre to terrible QBs is well documented.

While we're on the subject of rumors and speculation, Bill Cowher's house in Strongsville told me he heard from LBJ's penthouse in NY that Holmgren is going to step down and be our coach next season if Erica Womangini is fired.

Funny that you mention Cowher. I think he will be back coaching in 2011 (not with the Browns). The timing is right.

There were a lot of circumstances going on in his personal life that prohibited him from returning to the sidelines. Everyone thought he wanted to stay home to watch his girls in athletics, etc but I have a feeling that the reason he was passing up these opportunities was his wife's illness. I think she was probably ill for an extended period of time. Not to sound insensitive but since she passed away, he really has nothing prohibiting him from returning to coaching if the offer is right.

I think it's funny you Clowns fans talking new coach after 1 game. You fans are just as pathetic as the organization you root for. hahahaaaaa

I see Gruden staying put on ESPN. When he was coaching he was a work a holic, now he has a pretty easy schedule and makes good money. If he does come back to coaching I don't see him coming to Cleveland. He only returns to coaching to feed his ego, and under the current environment, his ego doesn't get fed in Cleveland. Big Mike takes the credit for any onfield field success, and the head coach is an afterthought, when things go right. When they lose it is all on the coach. Gruden is smart enough not to walk into that situation.

Thank you! Beat me to the punch. If this team is still a clusterfuck in 2-3 years, THEN say something about Holmgren's work.

Real nice job with the QB situation.

I guess we were supposed to take Tim Tebow with the 7th pick in the draft...smh

I'm saying your QB situation is no better than last year. Go Holmgren!!!!

Oh thats what you were saying? I had no idea. /sarcasm
  • BR1986FB
But the QB situation IS better than it was last year. Quinn & DA had no clue what they were doing and no semblance of leadership. Delhomme is FAR from being the gunslinger that he was in his prime but I'll take him & Wallace over those two clowns ANY day of the week.

Riddle me THIS, Einstein. What would YOU have done to rectify the situation?

Can't get McNabb because he told Heckert he wanted to play for a team that he (McNabb) thought could contend this year. Wanna trade away the whole draft and part of next years to move up to get Bradford? Don't think so.

Since Holmgren is such a buffoon, what would YOU have done, oh great armchair GM?

All I know is Seattle was a SuperBowl team and when Holmgren left, they were no better than the Clowns. But you Clown fans think he is the Guru of all football knowledge. Good luck with that.

p.s. Am I going to get an ''INFRACTION'' for this reply too?

Not if it's the same refs that oversaw the Pittsburgh/Seattle Super Bowl and know you're a Steelers fan.

Oh, and as I thought, no substance to your post, just flapping your gums as usual.

I haven't given up hope on Mangini but if we do make a change it will probably come down to John Fox or Gruden IMO. We would have to get a great offensive mind to go with either of those guys.
  • Art Modell
Is Holmgren still whining about the beating he took in that game? He got outcoached and his team got outplayed. He had to blame it on the refs to save face.
