SportingNews top 100 NFL players

  • Art Modell
SportingNews came out with their top 100 players today:
    Steelers- Roethlisberger-Ward-Harrison-Woodley-Hampton-Polamalu
    Ravens- Lewis-Reed-Boldin-Rice-Suggs-Ngata
    Bungals- Cinco-Benson
    Clowns- Thomas-Cribbs

Any surprises, snubbs. I'm sure Cincy fans might argue Palmer and Owens but I think the list is pretty right on.
  • SportsAndLady
You'd think one of the Bengals' secondary players would be in there...Joseph or the other corner? I can't remember his name.
  • BR1986FB
I wouldn't consider Palmer a snub. Just my opinion but I don't think he's even a top 10 QB anymore. That could change with his new weapons this year but there are other QB's I'd want leading my team.

Yeah, the Bengals have a solid secondary. Best in the division.

I'd probably pick Smith over Hampton if I was going to put a Steeler DL on the list. Seems like (at least in the short term) if Hampton's out, Hoke steps in and does a decent job. When Smith misses games, Pittsburgh's run defense becomes a LOT worse.

And I'd agree with possibly a Cincy DB. Not Palmer or TO, though.
  • BR1986FB
Smith is definitely the glue, along with Polamalu, on that Pittsburgh defense. If one is out, they don't have interchangeable parts (for those positions). If Jabba the Hutt (Hampton) is out, they at least have a suitable fill-in.

Joseph and Hall are both very underrated. However, the fact that both are very good, neither gets stand out recognition.

Rivers over Big Ben is a complete joke btw.

Rivers is a better quarterback than Raper, hence the reason he is above him(far above him might I add)...Big ben shouldn't even be on the list, if you can't get your own pussy in the NFL you deserve banned from any NFL great list.
  • Laley23
Rivers is top 5, Big Ben as top 10.

I think Polomalu is a top 10 player regardless of position though. He is WAY to low at 39.

    Peyton is spot on though.:D

Anyone that would take Rivers over Ben is a complete moron. 2 rings to prove it. There are 2 teams not represented on that list. Anyone know?

    And the Seahawks

There are not 38 players better than Polamalu.....I'm not real sold on there being 10.
  • Automatik
I have a question....when the game is only the line in the 4th and you NEED shit to happen....who you gonna take? Rivers or Ben. I rest my case.

List is decent, but I agree with the earlier poster....Polamalu is one of the elite talents in the game, he should be much higher.
  • Ironman92
    ....that's a decent case

You wanna win and you take Ben....you wanna a pretty good chance to win you take Rivers

Rivers has not shown me anything that would make me take him over Ben. Perfect example....his mini hissy fits he was throwing last night when SD couldn't move the ball.
  • Ironman92
oh his fits are why he's my LEAST favorite player in all of football

    My God he is pissy

Bucs and Seahawks are not represented.

Damn didn't see Thomas Jones there at the end.
  • Laley23
The winning factor is really only a small percentage of what I would look at for this list. I think Rivers is a top 5 QB talent wise (aka, what this list is). I would never take hm on my team however.

See my first post. He is top 10.
  • Iliketurtles
Gore at 55 and Schaub at 97 are way to underrated and I feel both should be higher.
  • wes_mantooth
No way Troy boy should be that low....he is top 15 for sure.
