Late inning home runs in all three games, gave the Chicago White Sox a sweep over the Indians at Progressively Worse field.
Rafe Perez was victimized in the 11th inning of game #1...Herrmann in the 9th yesterday...and Germano surrendered the game this afternoon allowing a three run blast by Konerko that erased a 2 run Tribe lead with two outs in the 8th..
In commenting after the game, Manny Acta said he could have used closer Chris Perez for a 4 out save but didn't want to risk the 25 Yr old closer- to -be's arm.
WTF?...yeah.... teach the young guys how to win, Manny.
The loss trashed another good outing by the starters. This time Carlos Carrasco's debut was ruined by his manager's incompetence.
I was irritated enough after the game, but Acta's comments make me furious.
"It was a tough series emotionally," Acta said. "We made way too many mistakes. I hope we learn from it."
Yeah....starting with you. If it was such a tough series emotionally, why are you losing a game with your best on the bench? -
MulvaActa sucks just as badly as the team. I said it when he was hired, he's Eric Wedge all over again. Hopefully the front office learned their lesson from last time (very unlikely) and in a few years when it's time to take the kid gloves off and stop babying these guys they can his ass and bring in somebody who actually knows how to win.
At least there aren't too many more games to suffer this year. And we still aren't the Pirates, so that's a plus. -

Yeah...with John Russell, we have a more stupid version of Acta/Wedge. -

I remember you did. As for me, I said I'd give him a chance. Well, time's up.Acta sucks just as badly as the team. I said it when he was hired
I've coached baseball/softball for 20 + years, and I know that when your young charges are on a losing streak and have taken some tough losses, you have to get them a win lest they lose heart and focus. Seriously, it's not that they've so overworked Perez that he couldn't have pitched to an 'extra' batter.
When Germano walked the first guy he faced on 5 pitches, he should have been out of there with the game on the line. -
HitsRusThis thread shows how much interest there is in Cleveland Indians baseball. This is the only thread posted about the ENTIRE White Sox series...and three of the 5 posts on this thread are mine.

BRFI thought Acta was doing a good job by letting the starters go deep. But I don't like holding out our best bull pen guys because of too many pitches. That drives me nuts, as I've said before. 70 appearances and 65 innings pitched? Puh+lease. Throw the frickin' ball for strikes. You are right Hits, posters on the threads....it just tells ya how bad we are.
