I'm a Pittsburgh fan btw. I still stand by might statement! But can you blame me? No way in hell did I think they would be 2-0. Their defense is playing amazing right now. If Big Ben comes back and shows no rust, plays sharp, etc....watch out!

You might want to change that to Lebeau. Dick Lebeau is the straw that stirs the drink in Pittsburgh. It will be interesting to see if the defense declines significantly when he retires. Tomlin is a figurehead. Lebeau defines the success of that team.

You're just upset the Steelers are 2-0 using 3rd and 4th string qbs and your beloved Clowns are their usual 0-2. Oct.17 cant get here fast enough. Plus that figurehead has something that no coach in Clown history has.

And hence you just confrimed my statement about Lebeau. The Steelers beat Tenn with a Derek Anderson/Brady Quinn-like performance from their QB's because of a stifling DEFENSE AND LEBEAU, NOT because of Tomlin.

Tomlin walked into a VERY favorable situation (rising star at QB, shutdown defense, etc). Kinda like the Cleveland Indians of the 90's...so much talent A RA-tard like you could coach them to a winning record.
  • Art Modell
Yea,You're right. I'd rather have Mangini too. How's your qb situation working out for ya? I thought that the football God (holmgren) was going to lead you to the promise land? The qbs are worse than last year. hahahaaaaa
  • Gblock
i disagree tomlin has done very well in the draft(timmons and sylvester and woodley) and the locker room and deserves just as much credit.....the main reason the defense is playing better is getting troy back along with improved play by ike and also getting kiesel and hampton back although they havent played as much as they liked....defense killed us last year but that was neither the fault of tomlin or lebau

You think that a GM & President is going to come in a turn around a franchise in ONE year with the lack of talent the Browns roster has? Don't EVEN bring up Miami or Atlanta either because they had pieces in place for a quick turnaround.

Cleveland fans aren't going to want to hear it but Holmgren is going to need a couple of drafts to get the pieces in place. We have no #1 WR, a shitty RT and NO pass rush. We REALLY have no team speed. Until this team decides on an identity (are we a stifling defensive team ala Baltimore or are we going to be offense first ala Indianapolis) and drafts for it, they are just spinning their wheels.

You're lucky your defense and special teams have stepped up or you'd be crying the blues at 0-2 also. And WHO EVER said Holmgren was going to "lead us to the promised land?" (I want a QUOTE from a previous thread where someone, besides YOU, said this).

Gblock...we'll agree to disagree on Tomlin. I will say that I'm very envious that you've had Lebeau all of these years. He is one of the best, if not THE best, defensive minds of ALL time.

Just wonder if the jealous Steeler hater is ready to give Tomlin some credit now? It's nothing short of amazing to see this team playing the way they are. I believe the teams we have beat are 6-3 with the 3 losses coming to the Steelers.

Anyone hear Hines Wards interview after the game? Quote'' Nobody in the league wants the Pittsburgh Steelers to be 4-0 with a mad Ben Roethlisberger coming back".

Not jealous but I am a Steelers hater and, no, Tomlin DOESN'T impress me. Let's take away Lebeau and see where he's at. He inherited a VERY good team with a QB that was just starting to peak. Don't have to be a rocket scientist to walk into a team that someone else built and win a Super Bowl, ask Gruden.

But I think that is just how the entire Steelers organization works. Draft smart, develop players in their system, focus on the team. The coach becomes a little less relevant in that culture.
  • Automatik
Tomlin is a solid coach. Hes a "player's coach" which goes far in a lockeroom. Everything I've read about him from former and current players were all positive.
  • THE4RINGZ
He (Tomlin) is a Dungy protégés so he learned from a players coach.

Whats a Clown fan know about good coaches. Tomlin could have easily lost this team with all the offseason turmoil but kept them together enough to go 3-0 without their qb, without their best wr from last season, and losing their best olineman before the season. Your grasping again BR.

Pretty much my point. They were built to win when Tomlin walked in the door. He had, perhaps, the greatest D-Coordinator of all time, a very good defense, a young QB that was cresting toward his peak and a pretty good receiving corps. Put him on Detroit, Tampa or Cleveland's sidelines and I guarantee he doesn't have a ring.

lol...wow really going out on a limb with that last comment. NO SHIT. Those organizations are minor league compared to Pittsburgh.

Polamalu & Smith returning from injuries had NOTHING to do with it? You mention ALL offensive players which up until yesterday did NOTHING to win them games. Who's grasping? You're such a moron.
  • Art Modell
Tomlin inhereited an 8-8 team in took them to the SuperBowl in his 2nd season.
  • THE4RINGZ
Again I think the culture of the Steelers organization is bigger than any player or coach. Love them or hate them you have to admit they are the model of an NFL franchise. Especially during the Dan Rooney era.

I just mentioned 3 reasons why the offense has been sputtering meathead.
