Who cares? Whatever it is will pale in comparison to his sponsorship deal with Grey Goose.

    Too soon?

good for him. Hopefully he gets some carries (you wonder how many he'll get w/ Ahman Green in that backfield)

Where does this league rank in terms of other leagues? Above or below the CFL etc...

Right now, I'd say its a little below but it has potential. I also like it less than Arena Ball because there isn't a whole lot of difference between the UFL and NFL except that these guys couldn't make an NFL roster anymore. At least Arena Ball has its own spin on the game.

I read somewhere that the average per game salary is about the same as the CFL (the UFL has standard salaries based on position, as I understand it - with bonuses available), but with only 5 teams, they play less games.

Last year they had four teams and two of those relocated/renamed for this season, plus Omaha is new. They have a team lined up for Norfolk/Virginia Beach to begin next season and it is likely there will be eight teams within the next two years. I thought Mark Cuban was originally going to be involved, but I know he doesn't have his own team at the moment (he may have thrown in some cash?).

I watched maybe 4 or 5 games last year. There were some recognizable names, but it still kind of felt like a small college game (to me). Seems like they played through the week.

    I'll be tuning in.

    TMZ had these photos up.

You can't really tell what kind of shape a guy is in by still pictures, but he looks like he's been working out because he doesn't look like nearly the mess he did at the combine when he was overweight and out of shape.

I hope he makes something of it, it would be a hell of a comeback story.

I think he looks thinner than when he was at OSU, and I thought I had read somewhere that he was down 15-20 lbs from his college weight.

Thanks. I plan on catching a game or two this year on the tube. What are they on Versus or something?

Yes, Versus is where I saw the games last year. Was just looking - and I really didn't pay attention last year - but the head coaches in the league are Dennis Green, Chris Palmer, Jay Gruden, Jim Fassel, and I think the guy who got fired from Boston College when he interviewed for another job.

I saw a lot of their games are on HDNET. I believe it is channel 306 if you have DirecTV.

Probably is. Hard to keep mass when your diet is jail cuisine

He'll be the starting RB for the Bengals next year, bank it.

I wish him the best and am excited about the opportunity he's been given because it sounds like both he and the Omaha franchise are going to be realistic about the timetable. On another note, what do you think the chances are for an Ohio city to get a UFL franchise? It would be sweet if Youngstown got one!

I highly doubt Youngstown would ever be considered. This thread got me interested a little more and I started reading around. Although it is from Wiki (doesn't always make it fact), here is suppposedly what the league is looking at: "cities with strong economic bases, passionate football tradition, and a high number of average TV viewing households as potential team locations."

It does list Columbus as a prospect, but then goes on to say that the cities being considered for a team this year (that Omaha actually received) - Portland, San Antonio, Austin, and Salt Lake City - are in consideration for next year as well as Raleigh, L.A., and Honolulu.
