major yawn.....the guy can barely crack 103 mph

    dime a dozen

My only guess is that he is being brought up because the season is over right?
  • Ironman92
He is being brought up because he has improved enough at running the bases and bunting.....those intangibles are crucial when you only thrown 102-105 mph....a player with more gas could get by with poor baserunning and sacrificial abililty

only 43 wins this season has been pretty disappointing. How we can ever compete with the Cardinals just wont happen.

The Cardinals have a guy that can throw 111 i bet.

    ....and he bats 8th

He will end up as the closer at some point

I am definitely going to the game tomorrow. I try not to miss debuts of possible studs.

I truly believe leaving Chapman down this long is a brilliant move. If he can hit 105 as reported, he will be unhittable especially since nobody has faced him. Jocketty is the best thing to happen to the Reds since Sparky Anderson and the Big Red Machine.

should be interesting to watch when he comes up

I say his first pitch is Rick Vaughn esque high and outside but then he throws 9 straight stirkes.

Hopefully Dusty pleases the crowd tonight and trots him out there. I'm just glad the Reds have him up here so he doesn't have to strike out anymore Titos in AAA.

He did ok. Kinda reminds me of Paul Wilson during his Reds years

Could you imagine the hype if/when the Reds clinch the Division if in the clinching game they brought in Chapman to close it out? That crowd was buzzing tonight, and that was only 19,000.....imagine 42,000+ with the playoffs on the horizon......

Would be sweet. For as small as the crowd was last night they got pretty damn loud for Chapman. I can't imagine how loud it would be at full capacity.

This kid is the real deal. There goes the Pirates chances of catching the Reds this season.

I think we're mathematically eliminated from catching you...unless Selig goes all NCAA on your ass and strips away a bunch of wins for using an ineligible player or something.

As for Chapman, I guess he's okay if you like dominating pitchers with great stuff. As a Pirates fan, though, that doesn't impress me. Over the years, we've been conditioned to believe that having even remotely competent pitching is overrated and unnecessary.

Chapman was 102.7 on your dial Reds Fans...that pitch was unF'n real!

    first pitch

I saw his debut in Toledo...........a slight improvement I must say. It kinda reminds me of the energy that David Price gave Tampa Bay on their playoff run a couple of years ago.

He's soooo nasty. Hopefully he doesn't turn into Joel Zumaya.
