Reds vs Cubs...Game 2

Ironman92Arroyo vs Wells
I think Wells has been pretty good versus the Reds....but I think right now the numbers are all out the window.
Votto with a triple crown shot and the MVP leader right now
Stubbs kills the Cubs
Bruce is ripping.
Hernandez and Hanigan are a share time platoon from heaven
Phillips is tearing it up
Arroyo has been a stud everytime he's needed
Masset is untouchable
and a guy throwing 105 is coming up to help
It's really starting to sink in that this team could be playing after the regular season.
NOT THERE BY ANY MEANS......but I've cleared the 80th percentile on being sold.
Still a lot of ball left and 7 straight upcoming road games in St Louis and Colorado......a 2-5 there and it's game on again -
Ironman92That being said....Cubs will probably win by 10. lol
2 Hr game tomorrow? -
Mooney44CardsWas there tonight, very good atmosphere at the game tonight. Cubs fans barely made a peep, and the crowd went nuts for each of Bruce's HRs. The only shame is that Cueto deserved some more recognition from the crowd than he got. Dude was sick tonight. Best I've seen him all year.
I'll be there tomorrow too, my brother is coming into town for it (Cubs fan). -
sportswizuhrdThe Cardinals and Marlins postponed game from August 8th is now on September 20th.
Importance?
The Cardinals will now play everyday from Sept 2 until the season finale on October 3rd(30 games in 30 days). I think this could help out the Reds in the playoff run. Lets hope so. -

How did they get around the CBA clause that says you can't play that many days in a row? -

jordo212000Wonder if Bruce will be in the leadoff spot again?

I believe the Cards were given the option to pick. They can choose to play that many in a row. -
Mooney44CardsLooks like the lineup hasn't changed, ride Bruce's hot bat!
Bruce RF
Valaika 2B
Votto 1B
Rolen 3B
Gomes LF
Hanigan C
Stubbs CF
Janish SS
Arroyo P -
Ironman92shouldn't matter too much
any order the Reds should beat the Cubs -
Mooney44CardsAccording to this article, Starlin Castro is pretty much neck and neck with Votto in the Triple Crown race....
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/5734918/castro_and_votto_battle_for_batting.html
Well, he only needs about 15-20 more points on his batting average, 30 more home runs, and over 50 more RBI to catch him. And even then, I don't think he's made enough plate appearances to qualify. Either this person is a huge Cubs homer, thinks his readers know nothing about baseball, or he himself knows nothing about baseball. Unbelievable. -
Mooney44CardsBy the way, met Heisey and Masset earlier today. Heisey is a cool guy, Masset seemed like a huge meathead and kind of a dickhead but was still really nice. I had Masset sign a baseball and I asked him if he could fire me a fastball and he said he needed to "save his bullets". Hilarious.
-
Ironman92Castro was born in 1990...he's pretty damn good.
Not to be compared with Votto this year.....but maybe as impressive of a story -
mhs95_06Bad call by the ump cost Arroyo 4 pitches in the 1st. Should have been 9 pitches instead of the 13.
-
mhs95_06Dusty shouldn't have given up on the hit and run like he tried last night with Valaika up and Bruce on first and no out.
-
mhs95_06Lets take the lead and get Arroyo out of the game in the bottom of the 6th so he doesn't have to face Nady, Colvin, and Fukudome.
-
mhs95_06Nice play by Janish for the third out on the tag on the pitch-out throw from Hanigan that was low. Bronson very fortunate to get thru the 7th with no damage. Now a pinch hitter for Bronson and hopefully some runs against a new Cubs pitcher, a lefty, in to face the PH Francisco.
-
mhs95_06Too bad Dusty had to name the pinch hitter before the Cubs had to name the pitcher. The lefty Russell Ks Francisco to lead off the 7th on three swings!
-
mhs95_06Russell does a wonderful job on the Reds lefties, especially Votto for the last out to strike him out on the 1-2 pitch that the home plate ump called a ball. But the 3rd base ump made a bad call on the 3-2 pitch that was in the dirt that he said he offered at.
-
osu45804Washington is up 8 - 5 in the 8th too
-
mhs95_06Does the new Cubs manager make a mistake made by many managers of over-managing by taking our a hot pitcher(Cashner) in favor of a closer(Marmol) who is prone to wildness and has blown several saves that way.
-
osu45804I HATE Marmol
Will remain a 4 game lead b/c the Nats are up 12 - 5 in the 8th -
mhs95_06Great job by the very much improved Cubs bullpen for 3 innings. Kudos to the new Cubs manager for getting Wells out at the start of the 7th so he couldn't leave the bullpen with any inherited runners!
-
mhs95_06Stubbs should have never swung at the first pitch, even if it was a strike(which it wasn't), from Marmol. That let Marmol get off on the right foot by getting an out without thrrowing a strike. Marmol, until he gets a lot more history to the contrary, should never get an out until the 2nd strike!
