Heretic
Over with push being a possibility.
On one hand, the team won 9 games last year despite having their (in my opinion) two most important defensive players on the sidelines for large portions of time in Polamalu and Aaron Smith AND the sort of kick coverage that's inexcusable at any level above, say, small-town high school football. They also had enough fourth-quarter letdowns to make any fan be like "WTF is happening here!???!?" Even some of their wins wound up becoming far too tense as they fell apart defensively late in the game (Miami, anyone?). It just felt like Murphy's Law struck enough times to make me feel like there's no way things can be that bizarrely bad this year.
On the other hand, Roethlisberger is out for at least the first four games and tends to miss at least 1-2 a season due to taking one hit or another. Polamalu seems to miss a lot of time and Smith has suffered severe injuries in two of the last three seasons. If things work as they should (at least in my head), I see them winning 11 (maybe even 12) games. But there's this feeling in the back of my mind that's telling me to expect another frustrating season full of "what ifs" that ends up just short of the postseason, which is where the push of 9-7 likely would put them.
